Is there a site/list/wiki somewhere that shows the best way to get the voice commands to work well (which words to use, etc.)?

 

Do you have navigation system? If not then you don't have voice command, other then programming it to dial phone numbers for you.

 

yeah we don't have nav. Every time I try to say "Call home" or "Call <name>" I get a 'try again' response. I have yet to get it to actually succeed in dialing a phone number I have uploaded from my phone.

 

OK you need to program the numbers and the names. You press the talking face button then say "save name" the follow the prompts.

 

We've done that (actually my MA did it for us). Getting it to connect to someone in the system is the problem.

 

Thats very strange! Did he proceed to speak the number aloud after programming the name?

 

I just got my new-to-me 2010 with the base stereo and bluetooth. I've had the same problem. Try this-

Start with "Dial Name"

It will respond with "Say Name" or something like that.

Say the <Name>.

It with repeat the "Dial <Name>".

Then say "Yes".

You'd think you could say "Dial <Name>" like "Dial Larry" or more intuitive "Call Larry" and it would do that, but no.

yea the system for dialing numbers is a right PIA. My F350 is so easy, not sure how bmw got and put such an non user friendly system in these cars. I had mine programmed then my radio lost its sync with and had to get it reprogrammed so I lost all my voice command numbers. I have not put them back in
