carpet or mats for your MINI

My MA says the dealership will include a set of floor mats. This is nice but I like driving barefoot and would like something a little more plush. What can you recommend for a soft touch. cheers and Merry Christmas

I have carpet floor mats, should have gone with rubber mats easier to clean and last longer. The carpet mats look bad after a while, getting in and out of the car with all kinds of nasty stuff on the bottom of your shoes. Good luck.

I have a set of the factory ones and the MINI rubber ones as well.
As far as looking for softer mats, I have gotten very nice mats from California Car Cover before, but Im not sure if they have anything MINI. It would be worth a shot though

Molly's Carpeted Floor Mats are up in the Attic in plastic bags for safe keeping, she's got WeatherTech Floor Liners and a MINI Boot Liner, as far as driving barefoot with the WeatherTech Floor Liner I don't see a problem with it, it's not real cushie of course, but it would be doable I've done it!!

I have the Mini Rubber Mats and they are great. Especially when something gets spilled

Worked grear, and driving with shoes or even propper driving shoes are much more sure footed (lol) than bare feet....

I just find it more comfortable, always have. I have hot feet. I know this is funny but I sleep with my feet outside the covers and usually don't wear socks. TMI

My last MINI had the carpet mats and they are super cheapo. Poor quality and very thin. I switched to rubber mats and then put the carpet ones back in for the lease return.

The MINI rubber mats are quite nice and I would recommend them or some other rubber mat.

The only issue I have is that the rubber mats don't have any "JCW" version so my car arrived with "Cooper S" on the mats.

Regular mats. Even with the weather here in the north east, they tend to last for at least 2-3 years. When they look old and ragged, I'll just replace them with another set. I've had rubber mats in cars in the past, but they just look raw and feel rough underfoot.

I agree about the look. I don't mind changing them out every couple years. I just think they look better and easier on bare feet. Let me say I don't drive with bare feet all the time but on long trips, I just find it more comfortable. cheers

I have coco mats from www.cocomats.com. These hide dirt amazingly well and are very well made.

I've had Cocomats before and you're right about hiding dirt but not much fun on the comfort scale. My main thing is something comfortable when driving barefoot. cheers

The mats that came with mine look kinda crappy after only 1500 miles. (Major heel wear) but they do feel nice and velvety. One of the things I got for Christmas were the "Urban" mats---a nice black berber with polar beige-ish pinstripes. Im certain they will wear better. Not as plush feeling as the others, but nice looking.
In one of my previous cars, I ordered Lloyds Ultimats. Perfect fit, nice deep pile, and they wore much better than I would have expected. I want to say they were less than 100 dollars for the set. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend those as an option.

I've had Lloyds floor mats in my Corvettes in the past and can vouch that they are an outstanding product. The carpet is thick and the workmanship is flawless. They're not cheap but well worth the extra $$

I drive barefoot a lot and the rubber mats from MINI are pretty comfortable. The good thing about that is if you feet sweat a lot then that smell will get into the carpet and start stinking up your MINI. At least with the mats you can pull them out and rinse them off and let them dry out and your done.

I can see it now ......a new "mod", Dr. Scholl's "Odor-Eater MINI Mats"
And here all this time I thought driving barefoot should be avoided because it was unsafe and illegal. Never occurred to me that the idea just plain stinks !

I like driving barefoot because you get better petal feel then with shoes. The only down side of that is that the rubber strips in the medal pedals starts to hurt the bottom of my feet after awhile.
