Mini Down

Well today was a much shorter drive then the normal 140 Miles..
I got rear ended on the main road here @ 30MPH took out the right hand side of the bumper underside damage and damaged the drivers seat!!!!

The worst part was when i spoke with her was " I have been having problems with the brakes in dam/wet conditions since I bought the car 8 months ago"

WTF you would think you might just might get that looked at!!!!!!!!

So went to some shops around here price varies for 1300.00 to 2400.00

Wish I could sue for stupidity

FYI she and I both appears to be in good shape however we will see what the morning after brings

Don't forget diminished value of the vehicle, the insurance company sure isn't going to remind you.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times... NOTHING worse than getting rear-ended. It's one of the most avoidable collisions in existence, unfortunately, pretty much only 99% avoidable by the person doing the rear-ending while the victim is usually helpless.

When my Mazda got rear-ended, my driver's seat also got damaged -- funny how that works, no? I actually had to point that out after my initial insurance estimate, so make sure they don't overlook it.

Sorry to hear that, man. I hate bad drivers.

What kind of car hit you? How bad is the damage on both vehicles? Any more photos (if you're okay with sharing)?

I've had 3 cars in my life so far. Each model starts with C (don't laugh: Century, Celica and now of course, Cooper). In my other two, I have gotten rear ended. I HOPE not to continue the trend in my Cooper!

After a rear-ender I IMPLORE you to go to a chiropractor and get checked out thoroughly! Your spine is out of whack and a chiropractor can get it straightened out again for you. I got in a light rear-ender in about '98 or so but since then I have had two fairly substantial ones. All three were in my '84 Renault which was able to drive away from each accident! I got no care after the first one but started regular chiropractic care after the second (when my back hurt really bad) and third ones. I credit the care with having an almost pain free life (at 48 years old now) today. I'm sure that if I had "manned up" and not seen a chiropractor I would be a hunched over, hobbling around mess today.

Please go get checked out.

Val

I was low speed rear-ended twice in my old Focus and both times the drivers were sorry that they 'were tired'. WTF. I have a habit now of watching the rear view in case I try to stop at a yellow light and the moron behind me wants to run a red light behind me.

Sorry to hear about this, but I really hope you are ok. Cars can be replaced/repaired, people not so much. Best of luck.

If you ride a motorcycle, this will become habit to you after a while. Not only for iffy yellows, but even just a regular old red. I always pay attention behind until the next car after me comes to a complete stop. I know two people that have been rear-ended on their motorcycles, and thats not fun at all.

I got rear ended at a light after the car behind me came to a stop. He hit the gas because he thought that I was going to make the right turn when all I was doing was inching up to look at what was coming.

That's exactly what happened when I got rear-ended. I had a yield right turn on red, started creeping out, saw a Vette that appeared to be going absurdly over the speed limit, so I stopped to wait for it. Got hit by a Jeep with no front bumper -- tore up the back of my Mazda 3 something fierce.

I hear ya on this one!!!! I am exactly the same way as you are. Out on the bike, I am always looking at the cars around me to see if Im going to get crushed. It already happened to me here in Ft Myers back in 2003, some *** not paying attention and myself and my buddy were waiting to for light to change and the *** slammed right into both of us. Threw us both off our bikes. Thank goodness for full leathers and body armour. So from that day forward I always check my mirrors.

Naproxen is really good for back pain and so is Robaxin as a muscle relaxant. That is what I am on right now and every time my back flares up that is what I take and it works great.

Shouldn't the Insurance Info. exchange have taken place at the time of the accident?? You'll be lucky if you get factual Insurance Documentation now.

2. it was best for both of us for me to keep my distance after the statment about not correcting the brake issue for 8 months time

Sorry to hear about the accident. I worry about that stuff driving around here. The options are: college town or tailgater country.

Don't ever ride in Chicago. People don't pay attention in intersections and will blow right through intersections. I've made it a habit to wait 4-5 seconds after a green light to make sure I don't get t-boned, motorcycle or otherwise.

OP, if you are having back pain, inform your insurance company so you can claim medical and pain/suffering damages. Hope all is well.

I used to bicycle commute in Chicago quite a bit. Only a few accidents: I was "doored" by a driver who then drove off as I realized I had a broken finger, and once a pedestrian crossed without looking and we collided.
I felt safer in city traffic than in small town traffic...

I agree 100%. Suburban mothers in their empty Escalades pay more attention to their phones than the road. City folk are more aware for sure.

That's good, but still how are you 100% positive it is correct? I'm only asking from experience.
2. You did report this on the report?

Did an officer show up?
