My poor lil Mini.......

Coming home from a teacher conference and ended up hitting a deer......My poor lil Mini :( Do you recommend that I take it to the Mini to have them fix it or just let the auto shop here in town do it? Also do you recommend Mini replacement glass or just whatever?

Personally I would have the Mini dealer recommend a good experienced Mini body shop and I would insist on genuine glass. But that's just me. There are a lot BAD body shops. You don't want one of those

I'm assuming everyone is ok? That looks like some violent collision.

My wife hit an elk in a Subaru. Totaled the Subby but she and my son survived. The Elk died. My wife actually had Elk blood and hair on her shirt. It was a violent collision as well. They estimated the weight of the Elk at just under 400 pounds.

Get your car fixed right and insist on the best. It's your right!!

I don't know what local shop means to you in regards to experience. Call a new car dealer and ask who they have do their work. Mini, BMW, Mercedes etc should be able to point you the right way.

Omg another one? October is just not a safe month to drive. Hope you made it out of that one safely..

Also maybe mini replacement glass is best because i vaguely can notice (it looks like) you have the rain sensor wiper mechanism, = more expensive

The Mini made it to the Mini of St. Louis collision department today.....haven't heard anything since it got there. Hopefully we will hear something soon and I will know the extent of the damages. My insurance company let me take it to a Mini repair so I am happy that it will get fixed by someone that has experience handling Mini's and not the shops here. Thanks for all your help, concerns, and advice.

deer meat is fancy meat, that should offset the price of the windshield and headlight.

It sounds like your MINI is in good hands.

I saw four deer standing by the side of the road, about five miles from my house. You never know which way those things will jump!

I don't think you could claim the deer unless you have a deer tag.

Hmm, deer is pretty tasty, maybe I should get a hunting tag, just in case!

I've been told you can't eat a deer you hit because it will taste terrible. Something about the adrenaline.

My insurance adjuster went to the Mini Collision Center today and gave an estimate of $6700 and probable 3 weeks before I get my Mini back. I don't know who took the deer, but someone did. I have never eaten deer meat.

In related news.

I was driving in the country today on the way to a body shop to have them put my stripes on. When 3 deer ran in front of me. I love the 4 wheel disc brakes, my quick reaction and the awesome handling with the sport mode on. I am glad i wasn't going as fast as i usually do on that stretch. I had a feeling i shouldn't speed to much this time.

Lets hope these stripes turn out good, i am anxious!
