Driver's seat question... am I going crazy?

Hi there fellow Minites,

I could have sworn that when I used to use the handle on the back of the driver's seat to let passengers in the back, it did not affect the forward and back motion of the seat.

But now it flies my seat all the way forward or back (depending on the car pitch) and it has no memory of where I set the seat for driving / leg length when the seat back is returned to normal.

Or am I mistaken and am just going crazy?!

It usually remembers where to slide back as long as you keep the seat back angled forward while you're sliding it back. Once it stops at its memory stop, then return the seat back to the locked position. Make sense?

i believe that if you push the lever and dont put the back all the way foreward, it doesnt slide the whole seat foreward. and as for returning back, just make sure you slide the seat all the way back before you start to push the back rest back. This is just from my experience. Mine works just fine. i doubt anything is really wrong with yours

Thanks to you both for the key point of sliding the seat bottom to its memory position BEFORE pushing the seatback back to its normal position. I too thought mine didn't have any "memory" but it wasn't enough to take in and/or even question since I don't move the seatback on my driver seat very often. In the 5 months I've had mine I've only done this a handful of times, and every time it didn't remember where to move the seat bottom to. USER ERROR! Thanks again!

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I was going crazy - user error it is!

Like jacobr says, I do it so infrequently, seems like my senile old brain isn't remembering things so well

As a mildly interesting update.

I tried the whole, push to memory position before moving the seat back upright thing on my seats - as confirmed by members here, and clarified when I RTM.

Worked for passenger, but not drivers seat.

Took the car in for a service, and asked about it - the tech said that he didn't think it was installed with the car, but they are "researching". They still have my car researching this - I'm assuming that they aren't researching this by going to another mini on their lot and trying it there

and... just had my SA call and tell me "The driver's seat doesn't have seat memory" - which is an interesting conflict in opinion to what we've heard about here.
