Windshield Stress Crack
Windshield Stress Crack
the windshield of my 06MCS just crack, and the dealer said it is stress crack and since my car is out of the warranty, they will not replace it.
This is the SECOND time happen to my car since i have it (within 5-yr). The first stress crack replace by dealer two years ago. I contact MINI COOPER USA customer services, and the lady Elizabeth called me back and said since my car is out of warranty and the replacement parts has been more than 2 years ( 2-yr and 4 months), they will not cover for any replacement.
well, if I need to replace my windshield every two years, that could be a problem consider it will cost me $600 each time.
Does anyone here experience same problem with their windshield?
anyone can recommend a good glass guy in Pasadena area?
thank you and happy motoring.

Every two years I pray for it to crack so I can get it replaced......they seem to pit so easy now days....but we have full glass coverage in our state.
There must be some excess body flexing going on to torque the glass like that, maybe a bad factory weld somewhere ?

While I am not in the CA area and will be no help to you in that respect, does your insurance have a comprehensive deductible that can reduce the cost of the glass repair? My insurance has a $100 deductible. Still sucks having to pay even the $100 but that would be better than the $600. Also, you can check with different glass companies, asking them about their warranty regarding stress fractures. Maybe one of those companies has a warranty that might make them more expensive up front but offer more protection in the long run.
