Sirius Question

So, I took delivery on my 2012 Mini Cooper about a week ago...and I noticed that it didn't have Sirius. According to the website, sirius is a standard feature. I went in and told them and they scheduled me to come in and get it installed since they said the factory must have screwed up. I called them today to confirm that they would have the part and get it done....they said they had it, than said that it can't be installed if I have nav!! So they are trying to tell me that had I spent nothing extra I would be getting Sirius free...but because I spent $750 on Nav they are saying I can't have Sirius....is this true?? Is there anyone out there that has Nav and Sirius. If they are full of crap, how do I get this resolved? Do I have to actually call MINI and get them to authorize it? Should I be going to a different dealer, since the one I bought at seems to be completely incompetent?

Please help, I am really annoyed about this!

Not really sure. Can it be configured on the website as you want it? Maybe that will give you a hint how to approach this. Or try calling another Mini dealer and asking some questions. Are there other dealers in your area that you can actually drive to and ask some questions?

its the only thing that makes sense, as the sirius tuner is built into the audio system. the only way to select sirius is through the nav/drive system. I bet you a beer or 10 that its a software hiccup.

Could be. When I go to radio it's not there.

You're the third person I've seen on the site to say their car didn't come with Sirius. Someone on the assembly line fell asleep. The dealer should be correcting this.

I agree, but the dealer is saying it's impossible, since I have nav. Which is why I have to call mini corporate and get them to do something!

I have Nav and Sirius on my 2011 MCS. It sounds like the software wasn't installed, not that there's hardware that's missing. You dealer is either asleep at the switch, or MINI is not communicating with the dealers. You're right, Sirius is standard - it's supposed to come with the car regardless of whether you get the Nav system.

i'm pretty sure the software will need to come from the dealer. I think they will get it together you will just have to be patient. I would call Mini directly and inform them just so you have your bases covered.

As long as the car is running fine and all other things work ok it's not the end of the world right? I know easy for me to say. But that is the reality. I think as they move forward they will figure all these things out. It's not just Mini that has these issues. GM/Ford etc all have the same problems. With all the technology in these cars it gets complex and hard to manage. They will get it eventually. Be patient my friend.

yeah, the car is fine...I'm not "concerned" per se.....but I am annoyed. When you spend money on extras, you expect to at least get standards....right?

Absolutely. I have a 2012 MCS (love it) and I have connected, nav, HK sound system and ...... sirius. ALL MINI cars are supposed to have sirius. On my car it is accessable from the connected home screen. Switch to radio and you have a choice of web radio, pandora, fm, am, sirius.

Dont listen to your dealer if they are saying nav negates sirius. They are full of it.
