Here in the OC, on any given day, I will see a dozen MINIs, mostly Coopers and they are driven by women. Course, my wife loves MINI's and she's always driving my Clubbie around..with me in it...so I'm sure somebody who sees this will think the MINI must be a girls car too! And not to add fuel to the fire, but yes, my wife wants a MINI convertible as well, lol. One day.

Today I got a compliment on my car from an 85 (maybe 90) year old woman (no joke).
As she walked slowly towards me, with her cane helping her along, she says to me "I like your car".
Maybe it is a girls car after all.

(not)

Old ladies just know class when they see it!
I belong to a private forum where we discuss everything from games to politics. When I told them I was getting my new Coupe'r they all said:
GAY!
I just *shrugged* and laughed. Most them buy Ford F-150's or Explorers, etc, Then ***** and complain about the cost of tank of petrol. I drive with a smile on my face... And for the record, so does my wife.

Most of the redneck hillbillys that I work with think my MINI is a girl car....but I could really care less. It's fast, it's fun, and it sucks down a fraction of the fuel that my big Hemi Dodge Ram truck does. I love it...even if some people think it looks like a chick car!

If I cared what my car "says about me," I surely wouldn't be driving a MINI. But I like how the car responds to my input, gives feedback from the road, and sorta-kinda has a pedigree. Plus the relatively low resale means I am having a ton of fun, for not very much money. For those who buy a four year old Civic for twice what I have into my '02 and want to criticize, so be it.
That aside, even those who rib me about the MINI (yes, I get a bit of it from friends) never indicate the thought that it might be a girls car, nor did that ever cross my mind. It's a quirky, odd, small niche car.

the only people saying its a girls car are are monkeys who only care about going fast in strait lines. I have a hatch and in general im not a convertible guy, but i really dont think the convertible is either
I've had 3 miatas, so I've gotten over what other people think lol.
Whilte both the MINI and the miata (and now "MX-5") are not "fast" cars, they are drivers cars that are about the driving experience. Lots of people don't understand that but who cares what other people think!

Haha so it's agreed everyone has been told their car is a girls car at least once or once a day. Just making sure I'm not the only one who gets **** for it. But then again I have never had someone ride in my car and not love it either =]
And none of my friends can say they won an autocross either =p

Yeah, I never gave MINI the time of day until a good friend let me drive his. Now I can't imagine driving anything else. My Jetta is much more efficient, and cheaper to maintain (and I suspect more reliable, too), yet it just sits in the driveway. I HATE the steering on that thing with a passion now.
I'm a man. I bought a mini. Deal with it? Haha, I do think that certain colors can make just about any car "girly", and the lines of the Convertible are feminine. The lines of the Cooper/Clubman/Countryman aren't girly. It's all down to the lines of the car, but again, the color makes a HUGE difference. No offense to any guy on here who has one, but the Oxygen blue color and a couple others are simply girly colors. I think the midnight black, eclipse grey, BRG II and the other darker colors make a MINI look very nice and absolutely look like a mans car. I also think that the Cooper S has more of an aggressive style which makes it look more manly.
Styling makes all of the difference. I don't really hear anyone saying the BMW Z4 is a girl car, but the Z3, the exact same car just the previous style, looks very VERY girly to me.
That's just my .02...I think there are a lot of girly cars out there, but most of the colors on a Cooper S don't fall under that category to me

Anything silver is always very nuetral. And to me it's the convertible with the top down that has "girl car" lines. The top up looks fine to me. But that's just my opinion. Obviously I am never going to make fun of any guy who gets a convertible...because they are still driving a Mini. But, they just aren't for me. Now a Volkswagen beetle is a whole different story...
I have to deal with this argument all the time. I'm part of a volunteer fire department and it's always "shut up you drive a *** car, girl car, not a mans car" (they all drive big diesels and think they're big and bad when they make a bunch of black smoke go in the air coughcoughcompensationcoughcough) and my usual response is "Well your wife seems to really enjoy the back seat" and that takes care of it pretty quick other times it's when i'm out with the same people at a bon fire or some other party and the hillbilly girls that are there say the same thing, and my generic response to them is "What makes it a girls car? followed by "would you agree with saying you belong in the kitchen? or you shouldn't have a job and stay home or you don't deserve the right to vote. and then they give a confused look because they can;t comprehend getting 3 questions on a row or something(idk that's what i think it is) and then tell them that labeling something as a "girls car" is segregating and how if they're all for "woman's equal rights" they should shut the **** up because they're contradicting they're entire argument and taking a step back-ward and not forward. And then they **** either whit bricks because i verbally raped them in-front of a bunch of people or they're the type that try and be number 1 and just reply with "shut up ***" then if i don't feel like arguing ill just tell them "I wish your parents abortion worked".................... Yeah my arguments are fun haha
People are always surprised when I tell them I drive a Mini! Women always say "I think they're cute" and guys always say "That's a girl car". Then they see it.
When I drive down the street I see people look, and I can sometimes hear them say look at that little car. I can understand why people say what they do. There are some cars out there I would never want.... But then again, I drive a Mini.
It's all part of the experience. Some people spend a lot of time and effort defending their Mini. I prefer to let people think whatever they want. As The Great Ricky Bobby Would Say: "If you don't drive a Mini Cooper, Then F@&% You!"

YES. Very!
Most of the girls I see driving MINIs are older women, but when I see a younger one (I'm 18) driving a manual... hell yeah!
My girlfriend drives a VW Golf, which is cool, but couldn't convince her to get a manual though.
:(
Lucky you...when I was 18 I was driving a beat up Mercury Sable with bad breaks.
