haha too funny. Girlfriend is the same way. She's only driven my MINI twice and that's with me in the car. She jokes asking to take it, but won't if I say yes because she's too scared something will happen to the car and I won't be the nicest. It's just a car... But yeah I might be mad if it came back messed up lol.

Do we have a psychiatrist out there who could give us his thoughts? I would like to hear thoughts on the guy who tells you that your car (any car) is a girls car. I suspect, at a minimum, this person has insecurity issues.

I think MINIs are absoutely girls' cars. Every girl that has seen mine wants a ride. I've decided from here on out I'm only driving girls' cars.

Well, IMHO the core of a mini was aimed at Men, that changed when the 07 models rolled around. I honestly cannot tell you the last time that i saw a women in a R53. Now that mini is a "ME Too" car i defiantly see 98% of chicks driving them. I also have not seen one guy driving the Countryman.

I am in the Philly market and now that they opened the new dealership here in south jersey I cannot go out without seeing a Mini/chick driving one.

That being said, i am a Mini man. I had a R53 as my first car and would always get ridiculed for buying a chicks car...that was until i gave someone a ride

IMHO a standard mini/off the lot is a chicks car now. However with a few mods/style touches you can quickly turn that stereotype around. I get numerous comments on how i made my Mini a mans car

Honestly, i could care less if people think im driving a chicks car. Im defiantly haveing alot more fun driving then they are

I was reading an article about what gives a car "chicks" status. Ill try and find it online. It is really quite interesting the study/psychology behind it.
I am honestly curious to see what the coupe will attract. Mini aimed that more at men but every review in a magazine says that they think it will quickly become a chicks favorite. We'll see

Note the eye shadow and little black dress. And her growl.

No psychiatrist here, but I think it definitely has to do with that. I guess it would go right up there with men who buy fast aggressive looking cars in order to 'compensate' for other things.

Hrmm... seems the consensus on this thread is that the convertible Mini is a chick car. I guess that means I'm driving a chick car. Hell if I care though. I like Minis and I like convertibles so a Mini convertible works just fine for me.

Although my friends do sometimes give me sh*t about it being a chick car.

I'd like to go on record as saying I've never thought of the MINI convertible as a chick car.

*ANY* convertible is a fun drive and anyone who makes fun of one is merely jealous.

Finally, I think most of us can agree that the entire idea of the MINI (or any car really) being a chick car is pretty stoopid.

Yes. Any girl doing anything badass is so hot to me. (lots of tattoos and piercings)

Anyway. To me its not a real car if its not a drivers car. Any car with direct steering, great handling and especially is light is not girly or an appliance. Then when you start modding them and making them look badass, then I think there as mean and badass as any friggin muscle car out there.

I despise people who drive big crappy plastic suv's because theyre "men". (all GM products)

well, my car wails like a banshee but that doesn't necessarily mean anything about the guy (or girl) behind the wheel. I might go out on a limb here, but how many men vs how many women have replaced their supercharger pulley?

My name for that matter can be both male or female.. although I'm only aware of one famous actor named Robin (Williams)... whom I may very well be named after since mork and mindy was on the air around the time I was born.
Anyway, I digress.

There are two two of people on the road drivers and operators. Most people who buy Mini's are drivers.

Let me say I am the girl who drives the 6 speed mcs. But I also think Mini is more of a drivers cars. On the badass as a muscle car thing. Our friend has a M5. It is a v12 super car sedan. It is awsome. yes it can do zero to 60 in a heartbeat and it is a great car but. I will say it is funner driving the mini because of the road feel. And I also hate the flappy paddle gear box. Is the M faster yes, but it is not a fun as the mini. And the mini doesn't scream ticket me.

On the SUV thing though I must admit I love my SUV too. Hello I can get 30 highway in a full size SUV with 425 pound feet of torque. Lots of fun to drive.

I love my mini, I served in OIF and I'm still active duty for the next 3 years so if I followed the stereotype I should be driving something with a V8 with two loud pipes bolted on the back. But no, I drive a Cooper S 6 speed. Is it a girl car? On what planet do I care! Its my car and you'll see me windows down sunroof open blasting MAX volume some Asking Alexandria with a huge grin passing the supercharged mustang on the on ramp and you can bet your next paycheck that the sport button with be engaged

Sure, the MINI that my wife just ordered will be *her* car, but it's not going to stop me from driving it as much as I possibly can. She better get used to driving my Bimmer.

Anyone who calls the MINI a girl car with intent to demean must be trying to compensate for the lack of something.

The ONLY place I've ever heard someone even bring the subject up is here on this forum. Maybe it's because I live out here in California where people are much less hung up about machismo images and the like. Plus, Californian's have been driving foreign cars of all types for much longer than the rest of the USA (I believe) and therefore are much more open to a wider variety of cars. (I know three guys who drive Miatas for instance. None have ever had their choice of car questioned.

Whenever someone mentions the girl car around me, I just tell them to get in the car and buckle up. They see things my way afterward.

Driving to a car show yesterday night and as I took a left hand turn at a light there were two high school/college age kids in a VW GLI that yelled "f*g!!" at me as I ripped it past. At first I was actually quite heated but then I realized that my car would blow his out of the water and he was just misinformed. I hope to end up following them in town sometime in the near future though so I can embarrass them

Who cares. I agree with many, the driver makes the car. With the zillions of combos and mods that can be made, you can dress up your mini to make him/her into anyone you want.

lmao what a tool! Precisely why VW owners are complete douche bags. It seems like every loser 17 yr old who just got their license has to have daddy buy them a mk5 or mk6 gti and all of a sudden theyre hot ****. Whats sad is Jettas are easily the biggest girl cars anyway.

Well, a Mini is only a GIRL car if it is painted in a GIRL color! You know, like yellow, red or pink! As long its a GUY color, like blue, white, silver, black ... then its a GUY car!
