2003 MCS drivers side door lock problems

About two weeks ago the interior door handle stopped working. I had to roll down the window to open the door from the outside. Just today the electric door lock stopped working. I can open the door manually from the outside by unlocking the door with a key but I can't open the door from the inside once the doors are locked.

Does anybody have any information on replacing the electric door lock? Also what issue would the inside handle not working be?

Thanks,
Kenny

I had both problems you're describing with my '03 MCS (back in 2006 though). The door handle was a broken cable that connected the interior door handle's action to allow the door to open (had to be replaced) and the door lock was a burnt-out door lock acuator (had to be replaced).

Luckily, neither repair is super expensive...

The inside door handle not working is a common problem. Most of the time it's just the end of the cable popping out of its plastic holder. You can reach in and pop it back into place once you've taken the door panel off.

I don't have any experience with your other door lock problem.

Do a search for Bowden Cable. There's quite a good write up with photos about popping the cable end back into place. That won't cure the lock or motor problem, but a search using "door won't unclock" should get you some results, too. Good luck.

Had to replace the Lock actuator. Problem solved. That job SUCKS with the window guide rails etc...
