Aftermarket
Aftermarket
Is it just me or is everyone starting to sell aftermarket parts for our MINI's. I was looking in eBay today and thought to myself man their is way to many aftermarket parts for sale. However, I also noticed the quality!!!! I would rather pay a little more and know that I am getting a good product with lots of R&D to back it up...Check out the link below.... The part I am refurring to is the Chip for $16.99...Ridiculous....

Well if you are looking for quality, it is going to be really hard to find it on ebay. Stay away from thos chip things they are nothing but concentrated evil coming out of your backside.
Coming from the Jeep community I was surprised how FEW parts there were for the Mini... at first.
Now that I start looking around and know the chassis codes for things there does seem to be a pretty good aftermarket selection. I wish I could find a decent looking carbon fibre shift ****/ebrake handle combo.

eBay isn't to terrible - if it sounds fishy it probably is. I always check the seller's feedback and see if anyone else has bought the part I'm interested in before buying. Majority of the time I find stuff locally or through well known retailers.
Generally, many mini vendors do some test of their products but that is by no means extensive like for example the car manufacturers. We modders are doinguch of the testing. Mini is such a limited market that they would find it not cost effective.
Aftermarket products specifically mini aftermarket products have very limited warranties as well. If the part is defective, sometimes you can get an exchange or refund. Likely you have to pay shipping or a stocking fee.
For example, if the end links fail, you lost the nut and bent the bolt. You will likely eat that. If you have a tune and it keeps going into limp mode regardless of the level, you will likely eat that as well. When their parts are known to fail like the boost tubes, there is no recall or refund or anything.
I still mod my car but am very careful what I put into the car.

Thank you for all replies...I am also looking for Blue LED lights for above the license plate?? Someone else earlier in the post (Dwight) said MINI people like aftermarket parts and now I am starting to....I think this is addicting...In fact this is exactly what happened to me when I had my 02' Yamaha GP 1200R. In a matter of months I found a great forum (green hulk) and started learning..That is exactly what I am doing now, with my first 2011 MCS!!!!
