I went to Prestige mini in nj today to buy some jcw floor mats and the tire pressure monitor thing
I was just walking inside the dealer to check out what else can i buy for my mini and saw the coupe right out side the dealer
Tried to take some pics but thx to my slowwww iphone camera i was able to take just one picture when the coupe was driving away

 

Nice rear end, anyway! I called my dealer yesterday to ask when they would be getting the coupe. He said, "The redesign coupe?" "Yes, the 2012 Coupe, not the hatch."

"I have no idea.. maybe this time next year if we're lucky. We just got the 2011s."

I don't know if this guy is a clown or if Canada is just that far behind.

ahh so that's what prestige mini was talking about!! I'm a "fan" of them on facebook, and they posted a message as their status yesterday saying to stop in at the dealer for a surprise, now I know what they're talking about

 

Jeesh and it's red.....and the black one which showed up 6 days ago at this years MOT at Mt Washington had that stupid camoflage decals all over it.....like it was just off the campus of area 51. And everytime we took photos of the coupe the dope who drove it up from Jersey says " no photos of the interior please !"

Morons.

 

It's the side view that concerns me.

 

Nice catch! I'm first in line for a JCW version at my dealer. Production is starting next month!

I got to see a Coupe S and sit in it this afternoon. We were able to sit, open doors, fiddle all we wanted. No issues with cameras or anything.

This was part of a "MINI Drive It Like It's Hot" Countryman event in Toronto this weekend.

I'm going to my Mini dealer today to see what's up! Good thing that it's only 3 blocks away from my house!

Not the same place I go to for repairs, though. Haha, NEVER go to a Mini dealer for repairs (out of warranty, of course).

IMHO I feel this a model that initially people hate from photos, but when seen in person there mind will change. We'll see.

 

I initially didn't like the look of the Coupe in photos and I thought the JCW version was just 'OK'. But in person, at least in the close quarters that I saw it today, it looks quite smart. The interior feels more sporty with the dual bubble roof, steeper rake windshield and lack of rear seats. Rear visibility was not that great. Trunk space was pretty huge for a MINI. I still don't see this as a volume seller for MINI - it's really a nich product that doesn't appeal to me simply due to the lack of rear seat/bench space for my doggie.



As an aside, the Countryman All4 S was surprisingly agile on the small track we drove on. However, I had the chance to take a Cooper S hatch for a spin twice and it easily trounced the Countryman - so toss-able and light. The smell of burning brakes and rubber after my 2nd run were very satisfying.

 

 

Haha, yeah you probably caught the coupe before it got cleaned up for the prestige showroom. It's on the floor now and will be there for movie night on Monday

 

Figured that was the "big" surprise when it got teased initially. Guess the cat slipped out of the bag a bit early

man, talk about a big difference in price between the Coupe S and the JCW Coupe!!
I'd rather just buy the S, slap a bigger turbo on it, add a big brake kit, and have it tuned =)
