Yesterday I tried to order a new Clubman S outfitted similar to my present '04 MCS and was told that effective last week no more MINIs could be special ordered with either navigation systems or automatic transmissions because of parts shortages from Japan.

Does anyone have any inside rumours of about how long this situation might last? Maybe I should just put off thinking about it until the 2012 models start being produced in October or so. Any ideas, anyone?

Also, until this situation happened, how about long had it been taking from special order until delivery. (My '04 MCS took 2-1/2 months because of a dealer delay in installing the JCWorks kit - the only mechanic allowed to do the installation at the time was out with the flu).

I was just informed after talking to my MA today that my car (ordered 5/02) was on an indefinite production hold due to the same reason. I feel your pain...let's hope we don't have to wait too long.

 

Wow, I hope this isn't true. I ordered on 5/2 as well. A Clubman S Manual with Nav. My MA told me that Connected w/o Nav would be limited as it used a different chip than connected w/ Nav. Sounded weird to me but I accepted it. I have a production number but no date of production yet and, of course, I am getting antsy.

 

I was told by the ASK MINI rep that my MCS was "scheduled for daily production pack" but he'd never heard of that and had no idea what it meant. He suggested I call my MA and that's when the bad news was broken.

 

I ordered a Clubman S at the end of last month. Waited for it to move to production stage for a couple weeks. Dealer finally got them to tell them it was delayed until at least June 3 to even start building. I needed a car and wasn't willing/able to wait that long, and didn't feel like it was a firm date either.
I got lucky that they had a new '10 Clubman on the lot that I could live with for a great price. It's not blue, (midnight black) and it doesn't have nav or mini connected, or comfort entry . It would've been really cool to have the mini apps and pandora, but it was expensive and I can't say I really needed it. But it is a JCW, which I'm really, really glad about now.

Ordered a Clubman S on 5/17 and was told the same. Fortunatly for me they were able to trade with another dealer for an alocation already with navi and auto.

 

Same thing happened with me. Ordered on 5/18 and my MA was able to snake a production slot that had Connected + Nav.

 

Well mine is build and waiting transport. So guess it just made it.
