Another Power Steering Fluid Post

Okay, I checked a few days ago and noticed my Power Steering Fluid (I'll just call it PSF now) was a little low, as in on the end of the dipstick low. I ordered some Pentosin CHF 11S to top it off, and have already picked it up from NAPA.

Yes I searched, heck I even googled it, and came up with no straight answer, everyone had their own theory. Here is my question, is it okay to mix PSF? Yes, I understand the different "TYPES", but is it safe to mix different brands, such as Pentosin and another one that I'm unaware of? I have no idea what brand of fluid I have in the MINI right now, and I have paperwork from the previous owners showing that the dealer replaced the PSP (Power Steering Pump), so I don't know if the dealer would use the correct stuff, or if they would try to cheap out and use some other cheaper PSF.

By the way, the PSF in the reservoir looks to be red-ish, if that will help.

Thanks to all, in advance, for you help

One more question I forgot while I was typing this. Is it normal for the PSP to leak a bit? Not enough for it to drip, but just enough to leave an oily film on the bottom of the pump.

Not sure if it is normal but I had the same problem. It continued until I had drops of fluid on the floor of the garage. I first thought it was an oil pan gasket but once I got under the car I found one lines was leaking just a little. The snap on fittings were not strong enough. I just got a worm type hose clamp from the auto parts store and replaced the clamp.
You may have the same issue.

I got the correct fluid from the local BMW dealer to refill the PS. For the small price difference I wanted to get correct fluid.
