I think that America needs more MINIs!! I think that it would be totally awesome to see more people driving Mini Coopers, it would make my commute to work more fun and aesthetically pleasing. I hate seeing these ugly gas guzzling SUVs all over the place (okay I used to drive one and I still have it, and I admit that they do come in handy every now and then but should not be driven on a daily basis). MINIs are small, fuel efficient and very safe, there should be more of them on the road!

I do agree that they need to stop getting bigger. I think that the countryman is a great idea for families and people who need the extra room, but keep the other models small please!!

So long as they have models that retain the performance focus of the originals then I really have no problems with them doing what they have to do to expand and prosper economically.

If MINI stands still, it's dead. This isn't the 1960's, they have to keep upgrading at a much faster pace, compared to 50 years ago. Do I like all the new models? No. However, if all we had were the MINI and the Clubman, then interest would die and eventually BMW would close down the division....it's happened many times in the past with other brands.

i think its good that they are expanded and opening up more dealerships. im not crazy at all for there new designs and roadster. the countryman is nice but itsnot my style.
id be awesome if they redid the original cooper and spiced that up a bit.

but ills tick to my r50. i just think the cooper and cooper S were so much nicer and smoother looking before there facelift

I stopped by the dealership on Saturday and they were JAMMED! Interest levels are high for sure. The line of 5 Countryman's out front had no less than 20-25 people milling around them. It would seem to me MINI is doing something right... As someone else said, they can't survive selling the same models forever. I say if it takes other flavors of vehicles to round out the brand and keep it around, then so be it.

I also don't like how the local MINI dealers are taking a page out of the defunct Saturn playbook, by holding pep rallies for owners. While nice to attend, it does carry over the bad stigma that eventually tarnished Saturn ownership.
The Saturn homecomings did not kill Saturn. That was GREAT marketing.

GM killed Saturn when they began taking things unique to the Saturn brand and using them on normal GM cars. THEN they finished them off by using a GM platform for the main line up. Nothing unique left, just a Cavalier in Saturn clothing....

Yes, I agree...this is necessary and understandable. However, they lost me in the process, although with plenty of eager buyers out there I doubt they are losing any sleep over that.

No we went to 4 different dealerships Saturday (MINI, Toyota, Lexus, Honda), and MINI was the only one overflowing with people. There were at least 20-25 looking at the Countryman alone, and at least that many scattered through the rest of the lot. There were also about 20 people inside. I would say what MINI is doing is working VERY well. None of the other dealerships had even 1/2 the number of people floating around in them. From a corporate standpoint, it makes sense to appeal to as many as possible, rather than try and keep "classic" buyers happy that buy 1 car every 5 years, etc.
