Interesting Paint Jobs

I have seen some cool artworks on a lot of cars, but not so much on Minis. I saw this one on the street yesterday and it sparked this thread. This was a really cute Mini with some great accessories, even the caps on the air filler tubes for the tires were pink.

There are quite a few around here. One painted like the General Lee (from the Dukes of Hazzard), which is pretty funny. Also one with magenta metallic paint. I'll have to see if any of my pics survived the crash and move to this new computer.

I saw a really cute Cabrio here a few weeks ago. Navy blue, white top (down), white rims, and lots of brightly colored flower decals all over. I would have taken a pic, but the MINI just zipped right by!

I think it would be great to see the photos of some of these inovative paint jobs!

Did I see Orangecrush's car on eBay being sold by one of those places that sells wrecked/ rebuildable autos? Or was that a different Hot Orange? It looked just like that but it may have been an R53.

We redid the kids 07 MCS a couple of years ago. His was originally Mellow Yellow, but it wasn't really as bright as I'd like. So after a few "skirmishes" we reshot the car in Honda Indy yellow pearl with a bit more pearl in the clear. It came out pretty darn nice. Hard to show in the photos but the up close pic is pretty accurate.

I'll have to see if it survived on any of my drives. I'll post it here if I can find a copy. Oh, and it even has the horn that plays Dixie, LOL.

I really love the pink ones!
How much would a paint job like that cost?

Those were pretty expensive - you'd be looking at $8-10k if you didn't know someone in the business to help keep the cost down. A top-quality custom paint job is $$$$$. Both those ladies with the pink MINIs knew people in the biz.

Both had BFs who did custom work.
$8-10K for a custom job might be a bit on the high side, but not too far off. Unless you are doing a complete color change, stuff like flames is a lot more affordable. More like $3-4K.

This almost certainly isn't the same car that Annette saw, but here's a MINI "General Lee" that my wife and I saw in London in 2005:

Hey, that's pretty cool. I remember the legs on that show, but I can't remember what the heck it was all about.

It was about rednecks. I see it live on a daily basis!

Thanks, Scott! Too cool.
