Need Advice
I am a car guy, but not a mini guy, and I need some input.
My GF bought a 2007 Mini Cooper S from a Mini dealer and it has had nothing but problems.
The car was said to be BMW certified, but a week after she bought it, the brake wear indicator came on. Mini told her she wore out the brakes since the time it was certified. I thought what a load.
Then the car wouldn't start in the cold weather. We live in Canada and it was about minus 30. Mini change the manifold to what is called a cold weather manifold, but it still runs like crap when it is cold.
So after all this, Mini told her they would let her out of her loan for the 2007 and put her in a new 2010. But she would have to forfeit the $8,000 she put down when she took out the loan. The mini dealership called this a favor.
Besides treating my GF as if she was the worlds biggest sucker. What do you guys think of the weather issues and the certification b.s.?
Would a performance software upgrade solve the weather issue? Is the BMW certification only a promise that the car will make it off the lot?
p.s. The brakes were done on this car at 25,000 miles. They are worn out again at 37,000. Brakes should at least make 50,000 miles IMO. Either Mini is full of it, or they think my GF thinks the brake is the clutch. However this car is an automatic.
