Lease extension question. Please help

Here's my situation.

My lease has been extended for 3 months. It was extended because a JCW with Nav I ordered will be coming in early January. I put $500 down. I believe you have to have an order number to extend the lease.

Something has come up. That something is a light, rwd and Italian for an incredible deal.

My questions is since I extended the lease do I HAVE to take delivery of the new car? I'm pretty sure the idea of not getting a deposit back is nonsense. They can't legally keep it. But does anyone know the legalese of the lease extension with getting a new mini?

Can I get out of the new JCW that's on the way. Give the Mini back. Then jump into something else?

Thanks!
-Gene

In my experiance with mini has been that the deposit is refundable. But that could vary by dealer.

the lease extension has nothing to do with the new car. They won't extend beyond 1-2 months without a new car on order, the fact that they extended it does not obligate you to take the car. If you decide not to take the new car and you just turn in the MINI at the end of the lease, there will be no "extra penalty" for not buying the new MINI-- just the standard $350 disposition fee.

You can probably do it, but why you would want an English spec. Fiat 500 is beyond me.

I confess, I'm a sucker for Fiats too but I don't think the new 500 is rwd. I'm pretty sure it's fwd based on the old Panda chassis.

Sarafil,

Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking to find out. They did extend it 3 months but no where in the PDF they sent me to sign and return did it say anything about me having to buy it. The salesmen always said you can only extend if you have an order number for a new car. I guess they were just trying to force me into making a purchase today.

As for the Fiat 500, hell no. I have no interest in that car. I find it funny though that on a Mini forum when you say Italian, everyone thinks Fiat.

This is what I may get instead. It's my good friend's car and he's trying to get rid of it to pick up a GT3 RS.

Funny Ferrari did pop into my mind I admit I was thinking a less
costly one. Great to know there are still people doing fantastic
in "this economy".

I can not imagine why anybody would want a chrysler made fiat
or a fiat made chrysler or whatever they are I don't know or care.

Worst.
Cars.
Ever.

(both of them)
