Stock

So, is my car not stock because I run Holies in the winter to not screw up my 17" 2-piece BBS wheels? (stock with the MC40)

I figure if you consider yourself stock, Join up!

If there is a problem with bringing back old threads maybe NAM should clean house and get rid of old threads.....sound stupid?

Im 16, and bought my cooper all by myself (Im a big kid now) and I think if its not JCW, then its not going on my car. Its stock now, and is going to remain that way unitl I dish out the $1100 for the sound kit. With all the work I put in to buying this baby I aint' skimpin' on anything.

Even if everything may be changed....

I made my MINI's glasses tinted and bought something new for it.
Some antenna *****, some stickers (including NAM decal).
I installed the Parrot Evo kit and the interface for using the bluetooth buttons of MFSW.
I think that my MINI is stock.

I am enjoying the pure state to the full,
and hope to remain in the 'Stock MINI Owners Club'.
I take the badge for it.

Keeping original intention is most rare, noble and unique.
Even if everything may be changed....

Mine is totally bone stock. Although, I did upgrade to the S-Lites (still a stock part ) and then upgraded again to aftermarket BBS, but recently decided to go back to S-Lites.

So guys, what was your motivation behind keeping your MINI "stock"?

1) Keep the warranty

2) Like the car the way it is

3) All of the above?

Feel free to add more reasons. They don't have to be rational at all.

My answer is 3, and I'll add that I'm cheap and refuse to pour money into a depreciating asset

I'd have to say that, yes, the warranty something of a factor. I've made full use of it as needed (little things)...and it's darn good!

Also, the refinements I do have were all included in my original order. It came from the factory just the way I wanted. I added sport seats, a leather wheel, fogs and a few other choice items. Perfection.

Since a Cooper is essentially a tuned One, I saw little benefit in most of the Cooper performance mods. Sound mods are cool but often seem to offer little other benefit.

I came over from more of an interest in classic Minis and so...well, MINIs are still essentially a Mini, aren't they? To me motoring in a MINI is what it's all about...great handling, fun, and a classic heritage. I have little interest in going faster or blowing anything off the road. I've even kept my IB/W as non-aggressive looking as possible, a look I've always appreciated in the classic.

Boondox, where in rural Vermont are you located, we've started something totally informal for fun >> Vermont MINI Club
I'm in the foothills near Mt Mansfield, in the tiny town of Mansfield. Closest village would be Stowe. I saw the VT Mini Club and will have to check the link when I come up for air.

...and 4 is:

4) Can't afford goodies (feeding the family takes priority).

I like the $100 rule.

To me, if it is an OEM part, sold through a dealer, it really isn't a "mod", more of an upgrade. To me a "mod" is going with aftermarket items.

I tend to be a stocker; my 98 Porsche has one upgrade; I put a 2001 shift **** in. Other than that, bone stock.

My On Order JCW MCS has everything I want on it, except the leather JCW dash, which I will probably add at a later date (and install myself to save on the dealer $$). Again, because that is a Mini factory item, I don't think of it as a mod. It is the only change I forsee making.

As far as tires, they are a wear item. Replacing them is not a mod. That would be like saying changing your oil is a mod. Nope, that is maintenance.

Will new wheels, slotted brake disks and Green pads and stainless braided lines, rear sway bar, tower brace, intake, cat back count?

Besides, no posts since 10-19-06, not much action here. Let's hoist a glass of water!

Would a car with factory accessories count as bone stock? I've got the oddments trays, a Euro parcel shelf, Euro center arm rest, front mudflaps, and a glovebox organizer.

Oh...i've got aftermarket wheels on it right now for winter...and the rogue eyes... but aside from that I haven't made any mods.. I'm kinda picky about accessorizing my Mini - basically only use factory accessories..

Hmmmm, I've swapped the dash and interior to anthracite, added Ian's auto-up, four sets of OEM wheels (white and silver), belkin car adapter plugged into the OEM Aux adapter, got the boot box, matt extender, rally lights, parcel shelf, OEM alarm, 'oddments trays', there's not much aftermarket in that...

I have a lot of respect for people who keep their MINI
bone stock. Something about it, the virginity, the
respect for the original design, and the self control!

See, when i first bought my MINI I was COMPLETLY dead
set on not modifying it at all. AND NOW LOOK AT IT!!!

Once you start, there's no turning back.

It's really cool how you gave it five gears in reverse.
