I'm even more jealous of those the bought brand new and were able to configure everything themselves! I've been reading everything under the sun to try and figure it all out.

The best thing I've learned so far? That rather than make custom pieces, we all get the same parts on the steering wheel and in the headliner, making us THINK we have features we do not, and then they don't offer us an option to install it (i.e. Bluetooth). THAT is a bit frustrating, and so far I've found Mini customer service is no help in finding out if something is being worked on.

The BT retrofit kit that was created only covers certain build times/years. Mine happened to be two months later, and yet I can't get BT after the fact? That's kind of insane.

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that all MCS have the phone buttons on the steering wheel, even if no BT installed. That's stinky. Mine works, I pushed it and it talked to me! Now I want an iPhone

2005+ cars have the buttons....
The kits came out later....BUT the aftermaket kits that CAN use the buttons work better for MUCH LESS $$$. NewMINISTUFF over in England has the adapyor to make the buttons work with various kits...blueparrot seems to be the favorite.
OLDER gen1 cars can be fitted too....just need a few trim parts in the steering wheel..also available from the same site...and the above mentioned kit, and you are good to go!!
For gen2...you are on your own..haven't followed them!!

Pretty sure the thread is dead, but you can use the following link. It worked for me and had my complete build.

http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Most of the stuff is in German, but the package options seem to be in English. You could also use google translate.

Just click on the American flag at the bottom left. It goes to an English site: http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

I called miniusa, gave them the VIN and they gave me the phone # of the dealer that sold it originally. I called them, they Faxed me the build sheet within 5 minutes.

My Options Please?

Wow, this is great! Having spent the last three days reading posts in "I didn't know that..." I have to know what they are.

OH YEAH! This worked! BTW I have spent the last 3 days online or in car figuring stuff out. If not on my PC, on a tablet. Is there a cure for this?
