Thank you, this was great. Google translate helps, and for anything it can't cope with you can refer to this list of option codes in English:

http://www.bmw-vin.com/sample.html

("find in page" is your friend here.)

Thank you! That page shows that I have the "cold climate" option. I'm guessing that means heated mirrors and seats, but I don't have switches for them. Any other ideas as to what that means?

My 08 is the same way and I've been wondering about that myself! I surmised whoever the first owner was didn't get what he ordered.

It must mean something completely different than what we're thinking!

Does anyone know of any other sites we can check for more specific options? The VIN decoder here just give generic info.

Ya, I don't think the cold weather package is the same as the cold-climate version. Code 0842. Still don't know what that means. Thermostat rating or something similar is what I also thought? No clue.

Oh, wait, I remember. There was something about how the cars destined for cold climates got a different coolant mix than the ones for hot (equatorial) climates. I think it's simply that.

Just curious, has anyone gotten a response recently to their post here? Not trying to be critical, just wondering if this is a dead thread :(

As I feared...I called Mini and they wouldnt give me any build information. I called a dealer and they gave me some vague idea of what packages the car has. It sure would be great if you could regenerate the window sticker!

I was really lucky after purchasing a preowned 08. I opened the owner manual and found the window sticker inside!
