Resetting Service mile indicator?

Hey guys I have a quick question about the service indicator mileage.

Is it referring to when to change the oil in the car or something else?

When I picked up the car it said service in 1500 miles. Before I picked it up the oil was changed. Should that service indicator have been reset? or is it for something else and not the oil? The oil was changed at a non Mini dealer so if resetting the indicator is part of the oil change, I don't think they where aware of it.

I found instructions for how to reset it, but I am just wondering if that is something that should have been done when the oil was changed or is the indicator referring to some other service and not the oil?

Any info would be great, the car is an 06 MCS.

The answer may be in the car's total mileage. MINI recommends service for oil at 15K intervals and for the other items in 30K intervals.
If your car is at 45k then it's just for oil service. If your car is at 60k then it's due for other service as well as oil.

The picture that comes up with the mileage will tell you what the countdown is for.
Since you didn't get the oil changed at a mini dealer, then they didn't know how to reset it and you should be ok to do it yourself.

Here's a great Youtube video on how to do it for an R56...

Not exactly what Sajuuk was looking for but useful for good info for the R56 crowd

What comes up is "Km Inspection" "1400"

So is that for the oil? Since the oil has been changed its ok for me to try and reset it?

I just checked the manual, guess I should have done that first lol.

It shows a picture of "oil service" which is not what I got, so it looks like its not for the oil but for an actual inspection.

So I'll have to take it in after all..
