I think as most mentioned, it's easier to leave and allow for a quick escape. I also do this personally because I was taught when I was first learning to drive to back-in when parking. I then just got used to it.

Its rule #4! ALWAYS, ALWAYS PARK BACKWARDS. Yes, its a show, club, ect thing. But yes, it IS a MINI thing!
