Well after almost a month of MINI ownership I finally got my first wave from a fellow MINI owner today. I was heading down I-95S toward Burlington when I had to slow down for some traffic and I noticed a blue cabrio heading north in the stop and go and that side of the highway. The driver had the top down and happened to notice me and gave me a nod and a wave, and so I waved back.

It certainly seems that the wave is dying...

 

I've had mine for ~2 weeks now and have seen at least 50 pass by (yeah there's tons where I live) and have yet to get a wave... even the ones that look exactly like mine don't notice me!

 

I got my first the day after I got my car three weeks ago. Now I'd say it's about 1 or 2 out of 10 that wave. I just assume those people frequent NAM.

 

The wave is not dead, we just have to keep trying.

 

It doesn't matter how many Mini's I see, no one waves at me. :(

I finally got my first wave today! Just yesterday I complained that I get no waves. Today a nice lady in a dark silver cabrio waved to me.

 

In our town there's an abnormally large amount of MINIs. I don't know why.. our population is pretty small, but they're everywhere. Maybe I'm lucky haha. I just wish more people from Powell Ohio were on the boards considering how many MINIs we have out here.

I'd say I get a wave 40% of the time on average. I'd say 40% wave, 20% smile as I go by, and the remaining 40% are in a coma or something and pretend they dont see me or care about me .

Even if I didn't know about the wave, if I saw a MINI the same color as mine drive by and he waved, I wouldn't be a dbag about it and pretend like I didn't see him.. I'd wave back! :D


Anywho, currently there seem to be at least 5 other liquid yellow MINIs, which is pretty freakin' cool! :D

 

So after complaining yesterday...

Today I was driving down a narrow road, and a CR/W MCS heads towards me. I have a CR/W MCS. I stuck my hand out to make sure they don't miss me (lol...) and get a hand out the window wave back!

 

I am 4 for 4 over the last few days. Even gotta little flash from the headlights today.

 

I'm feeling pretty special! Got the mini on Thursday evening, got my first wave Friday! I ride motorcycles and I always wave to fellow riders . Didn't know the same existed for mini's but it's a nice surprise.

 

with MINI's popularity growing i find less and less people wave/nod/flash their lights then when i first started driving my MINI in '07. I'm glad people are still doing it.

 

i probably see 8-15 minis on my way home from work every day and get 1-2 waves back from people

maybe people are having too much fun driving to notice another mini :P

So long as there is one of us still waving, the wave isn't dead.

 

I got 2 for 2 today.

Thing to remember is that some folks just own a MINI, and other folks are MINI enthusiasts.

I ride sport bikes and I find it's pretty style-specific.. I always get waves back from other sport guys but cruiser riders are always stuck up! I've only waved at 3 MINIs and so far, no return waves. I

 

Have had the MINI for about two weeks and went to France and not even a look, but back in Germany we get smiles, flashes of the lights and yes, yes,yes even waves. I thought I was crazy when I waved at other MINI owners but when I got a wave back I felt warm and fuzzy all over. WooHooo. However, Germans wave a little different it is kind of a throw up of the hand and a stupid grin but never-the-less it is a wave. So yes Google I am "feeling Lucky". YEAH keep the wave alive.......

 

Jeep owners wave also, and I've found that my wave has changed from going to the Jeep to the MINI. In the Jeep, it was a very cool, subtle couple-of-fingers-while-nodding-the-head. That somehow just doesn't feel well... exhuberant enough for the MINI. When I'm in Roxy, I now give a full-on wave and a big old grin. Is it always returned? Well, no, but I keep telling myself it's all about having a road divided by a median, and they just didn't see me.

 

I was lucky enough to get my first wave driving home from the dealer last week...(thank you to the kind gentleman in the yellow MINI in Hermosa Beach! ) since then - nothing, zip, zilch, sadly. But I keep waving anyway.

 

I was driving into Brooklyn on the BQE the other day, and there were 2 other MINI's on the road, we all started following each other and created a little rally.

Of course I had to take the first exit and leave the pack, and due to traffic I left early... but it was fun while it lasted. Far better than waving in my opinion.

 

I got a flash of the lights when I test drove a mellow yellow MCC a few months ago, it was another mellow yellow MINI. I got my MCC two weeks ago, and flashed my lights but nothing happened, so I gave up. But, I guess you're right I'll keep waving and/or flashing my lights.

i love driving with other minis, always makes me grin like a kid in a candy store! i got a wave right in front of my office yesterday, but so far no waves returned today :(

 

I've had the MINI for a week and I've had 2 waves and a smile.

 

Ditto. The majority of the drivers I pass don't wave back, but it just makes it extra special when I get a wave back... And it keeps a smile on my face for a while.
