'07 Coupe vs 06 Cabrio

OK I am a convert. I left the dark side and am trading in my Boxster for a MINI. The folks that drive a MINI are much more down to earth, and the Porsche Heads are well, ****heads. Sorry.

Anyways, I have a choice between an 07 Chili Red Coupe or a 06 Silver Cabrio, same mileage, but the 07 has a year of warranty and some maintenance time left. Love the Chili Red Color, Love the Supercharger, but the cabrio? Hmmmm. Also sort of concerned with the new engine used in the 07. What do y'all think.

Wow hard choice. I would go with the cabrio, the old chassis is sportier than the R56 cars.

I don't know every time I look at the Gen1 Cabrio forum it seem like some one is having trouble with their tops, worn out, holes, don't close or open right, I don't need that aggravation. But it's your dime.

I am learning towards the 2007 Chili Red. Looks a lot like yours. Do you like the turbo engine? I had a MINI a few years back with the supercharger.

Both good options but I would go with the 06 vert for a few reasons:
- It is a vert. There is nothing like an open car
- 1st gen is a little sportier, like Wayland said
- 07 is first year of the new model, I try to stay away from the first year of any car.

You will probably be good with either, just my $.02.

Well, I have decided on the 07 MCS Coupe with 14K miles. I had a Cabrio a few years back and though great, the blind spots were really tough for me to get used to. Also I crossed over from the dark side (Porsche Boxster convertible) and wanted something different although the coupe has the panorama sunroof. I loved the Supercharger in my old 07 Cabrio, but the turbo is supposed to be great, with torgue peaking at 1600 and hanging there to over 5K rpm. I also will have another year of factory warranty, so there you have it. It was a tough decision, and maybe the Chili Red helped win me over. I should have it tomorrow afternoon. So so excited. I am changing my user ID to match my plates; IMAMINI. Corny but cute.
