Build Cycle, Deadlines, Wait Time?

I'm looking to buy a custom MINI and was talking to my sales person over the weekend and he was encouraging me get my order in Friday or Saturday or by tomorrow at the latest. He was saying something about a deadline to catch MINI's current "build cycle" and that if I didn't catch it, it could mean having to wait a while longer to get the car. Can anyone enlighten me about this? Are mini's built on a specific build cycle and what kind of delay are we talking about if you miss one build cycle?

I'm pretty much ready to sign, but I need to iron out the last details of options, prices, trade-in value, figure out lease financing options, etc. I'm excited about getting the car and don't want to wait forever, but at the same time I don't really want to rush into anything. My sales person was out on Sunday and of course today (Memorial Day in the US), and tomorrow is his day off but he said he'd be able to stop in and put in the order if it was ready. Needless to say, I suspect I won't be able to close the deal tomorrow unless I agree to the offer already discussed which wasn't really 100% finalized to where I'd want it to be.

Is there really a deadline tomorrow, and if I miss it how much of a delay could I expect?

Thanks,

---Lawrence

The deadline is for the 2010 model and in august you'll be able to order the 2011. There is a minor refresh to the MINI for 2011, a bit more HP and a refreshed interior. If you place order in august, you should get your MINI in October (that's what I'll be doing). For more info on 2011 model go to www.motoringfile.com

So if I don't order it tomorrow, I'll have to wait until August to order and until October to get the car? Seriously? 16 weeks?

I ordered mine on 22nd May and being told is status 112 (waiting for production) and my SA told me that possibly by first week of June it goes to production and remember the 6-8 weeks delivery is going to be counted from production date, the deal is until your car gets in production status you still can make changes in to the configurations and I did add cold weather pkg after I ordered, so my guess is you can order the one that is very close to your wish list and finalize it in day or two if your sales associate is quick in responses, but as far as deadline as you see in my case it is still in limbo and no production yet, I don't know about the latest status on when would be the last day for ordering 2010...
