Is this dude the real deal or a bit of a BSer? Seriously?
They have a lot of cool products I'm interested in for my new Clubman -- STDs for one -- but when I watch the videos I get a serious snake oil vibe.
I'm sincerely looking for recommendations and experiences, not an internet ***** fest.

If you do a search you'll find they've been long standing vendors in the MINI community.
Don't take it form me though, search and you'll find a TON of reviews. And here's the Vendor review page in the main menu on the left with all the NAM vendors (for your future reference) here's the link to M7s page https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...uct/310/cat/17

I dont understand why do you think he is a BSer? Lots of people have great things to say about Peter and M7. I have their Strut Tower Brace and never had any problems with them. Try the search button.
m7 tuning is pretty well respected. I have the m7 strut tower brace, and can only tell you that it is built really well, uses highest-quality hardware and fasteners, and performs exactly as promised. So my vote is that Peter is legit, and can be trusted. Just one MINIac's opinion, though...
I've dealt with M7 and Peter. In fact, I've got a new strut brace coming in which is suppose to be delivered this Friday. (the new one that works with the JCW CAI)
Like many vendors, Peter is "proud" of his products. When you talk to him, I can understand why you get the "snake oil salesman" jitters. Sometimes, IMO, it comes across as a holier than thou attitude.
I think he's just confident and it may come across as cocky. (again, my opinion on talking to him on several occassions) Nothing meant as disrespectful, I just know what you are talking about...
Having said that, Peter's products are IMPECCABLE!. Unlike other vendors on here, ALL of his products are of the utmost quality. NOTHING he sells is crappy quality and it all fits PERFECTLY.
If there is a product you desire that he sells, rest assured it WILL fit perfectly.
My .02 worth.

Had their strut plates on R50, got the same for R55... Waiting for my JCW compatible brace (traveling by USPS), I even got after the fact discount on it... Now considering the scoop...
Nice, solid products so far.
And they don't use UPS to Canada

Thanks for the empathy, Mark. You did a much better job of describing my feelings than I did.
I'll start filling my M7 shopping cart.

M7 isnt too bad they are basically down the street from me. I used to run a lot of there products on my mini. I know Randy who does a lot of R&D for them and hes a great guy. His mini is quick and runs mostly M7 products. They are a legit company. Also, Peter has a nice little accent. So that sweetens the deal. lol
My m7 strut brace didnt fit. It almost bent my hood. I like some of their products but they are Very expensive, 229.00 for a hood scoop thats not even painted? Thats a lot for some fiberglass, I guess they know they have that corner of the market. I do like that they are doing some wind tunnel testing on their bigger products. Seems like they are moving in a decent direction, if there products were better priced I would own a lot more.

Which strut brace did you get... the brand new one for the JCW CAI or the flat bar kind?
I've had two of the flat bar kind and never had a problem... you do have to adjust them somewhat (that's why they are slotted, etc) but I've always been thrilled with M7's fit and finish.
Tomorrow my new M7 strut bar for the JCW CAI will arrive, I'm excited.

Its a nice piece its not as well done as the BMW/MINI JCW CF parts that I have on my car. It should also come with the stepped core drill bit that they mention on the site to be able to drill a hole large enough to get the nut to meet up with the bolt from the scoop and then be able to tighten it down.
I had their strut tower brace on my car from day one. When I put the car in reverse the intake would rub up against it. Their STB did not work with the NM Engineering intake that I had on my car for a while. So I took it off and went with the more expensive but nicer looking NM Engineering STB.

I understand that some products they sell seem to be useless... and are presented in a questionable, used car salesman kinda way. However, these products are great, and I can't imagine my Mini without their parts. They were helpful each time I called them with questions, kind, and the parts ALWAYS fit as promised. They look very expensive (well.. they are) and you can't find much better than what they provide. It might cost an arm and a leg, but you'll also never wish you had anything better in your Mini.
Kudos to them. Order their gear if you can afford it. You won't regret it.

I guess I spoke to soon...
I got my M7 J brace (the one made for the JCW CAI) in about an hour ago. I opened up the box and it looked just like the quality parts I'm use to seeing from M7.
Here's what happened when I went to install it.

I had to drive this bar into the end to make it fit to no avail.
I ended up doing this...

I had to grind both ends to make it fit. I was hoping it was just "thick" powdercoating" but the actual aluminum was simply too wide.
I had to grind both ends to make it fit. It's not an overly taxing repair but I expected it to fit better.
Finished product....

I could have called M7 and have them replace it but I've been waiting over a month to get this and it was easier just to fix it now.
So, I'll rephrase what I said... "normally, NOTHING he sells is crappy quality and it all fits PERFECTLY."
Fixed.
