Need help putting together a deal with a CPO Mini!
Need help putting together a deal with a CPO Mini!
ok so i stopped by my local MINI dealer to check on new car prices and they had a lease turn in from one of the salesman that wasn't processed yet.
they told me its going to be certified into a Mini next vehicle and it won't be ready until Friday.
the car is an 2007 MINI Cooper S manual with 28.8k miles.
it is astro black with white top and wheels. comes with cloth interior, cold weather, premium, and sport packages. it also has sport suspension, chrome line interior, rear fog, HiFi, and White turn signals.
carfax doesn't show any thing bad, and the car has a scratch on the hood scoop, a small chip in the glass, small paint chips on the edge of the doors and otherwise pretty good. I talked to the previous owner who is a sales guy there and he said it has no accidents, no problems had a small dent on the fender that i didn't see.
anyway they are asking 20,500 it will be certified and then add $499 doc fee and $42 title fee and 7% tax comes to $22476 out the door if i did my homework right.
my self imposed limit was around 20k for something I really wanted, this car isn't perfect for me, but the low miles and 6yr/100k warranty really do it for me.
So what can I do to make the deal better as Its a bit High in price I think.
KBB says 25.5k for a CPO, NADA says 21,150 for clean retail, and Edmunds says 20,947.
I know i can get one with higher miles for cheaper, so its hard to pull the trigger on this one even though it is CPO.
what do you guys think and should i try to get them lower or throw something into the deal?

just had a guy come over and show me his 2008 MINI Cooper S manual 13k miles
Laser Blue Metallic Paint
Grey & Carbon Black Leatherette Interior
Multi-function steering wheel (cruise, radio/cd, bluetooth, phone) NOTE: i don't have bluetooth set up, but you can at the dealership if needed
17" Alloy Wheels - Web Spoke
Roof & Mirror Caps in white
Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof
Interior Surface Brushed Alloy
asking 21k, but negotiable, has new brakes and runflat tires. Awesome condition! Loved the Color.
If I can get that for 20k, I think i'll forgo the optioned up CPO 07 and dealing with the dealership BS.

Just an FYI and to give you a reference point in negotiations:
I did MINI Owner Choice on my 2007 Cooper S which is very similarly optioned (and the same color! ha!) and the payoff at the end of 3 yrs/45k miles is right around $17.5k... (but I only have 25k miles)
To sum it up - I think you have some room for negotiations on that price...
