Two quick black-out mods here before dark. (Ignore the dirt... my baby has a date with a sponge Friday evening)

Lamin-x on the wheel arch markers:

3M Super-88 on the chrome beltline:

I've gone back and worked out some bubbles since that pic. We'll see how well the 3M holds up.

I got 3 boxes of parts in the mail this week. I'm eagerly awaiting this Saturday when I have some time to install them:

Helix FMIC, NM Torque Arm insert, oil filters and canister socket.

I went to greasy's to fix a squeaky serpentine belt, left with a new supercharger pulley, bushings, and a new power steering fan. funny how that happened

H&R RSB install last night by myself in 2 hours flat from pulling tools out and jacking the car up, to putting everything up and a test drive.

fixed plates up front and a sway bar out back, next step, intake and pulley.

Yesterday I took my Clubman to the get tint and clear bra applied. Man, it looks good now and will look even better next week when I get the black rims put on.

WOW just drove the **** out of my car on my lunch break, and i must say the combination of the fixed plates and RSB is perfect! understeer GONE, over steer, with a bit of a flick, and when you want it too. the car now feels extremely stable, predictable, and controllable, when cornering at speed.

also, got new tires on Monday, so that only adds to the dramatic new handling characteristics my mini has just acquired.

GOOD DAY TODAY! good day

The clear bra is something that I will be getting sooner than later. Today I gave ZIM a bath to remove all the bug guts and juice from the front grill, bumper and windshield after our little trip to the South Carolina low country. Bugs, bugs, bugs and more bugs. While cleanig all the bugs off, I noticed all the paint chip marks on the bumper.

Put LaminX charcoal films on my tail lights, and applied my R53 badge I got from Out motoring a number of months ago.

(Yes its dirty, Its been raining every day, and this is the dirtiest rain I've ever seen).

Hey! that badge looks nice. I was thinking about getting the R55 for my clubby, may do it now. I like how you offset the R and 55! NICE!

My baby is dirty, too. storms nearly every day...rough spring, especially for the south

I couldn't wait till this weekend to wrench on my R55, so I installed the NM torque arm insert and am in the process of changing the oil and filter. Man, it really takes a long time for the oil to completely drain...

Well not today, but yesterday I installed the gomingo 3rd brake light pulse module. Install was straight forward per the instructions, although the positioning was a problem. Cannot get one of the retaining clips to hold. So get back into it and try again.
Ordered a Sprint Booster to cure the accelerator lag time. Eurosportdesign had the best price and free shipping.

I have the tape setting on my office desk but havent tried it yet. Is it a pain? I'm curious how it holds up and if it will leave a sticky mess when you remove it.

First ever mod

Excited about my first EVER mod (Never understood "mods" until I got my Mini!) Added Black Door Lock Badges. SO many more ideas...so little time and money! Picture to follow when I figure out how to do it from my work computer! LOL

I actually took it off last night. My perfectionism was at odds with my abilities to make the tape look good. I may give it another shot. It looked great from a few feet away, but I wasn't 100% happy with it.

The main issue for me was that the tape is 3/4" while the chrome is probably 5/8". I thought I could just wrap the edges but when I went back to it yesterday, the upper edge was sticking up here and there. I tried to trim it back but ended up exposing too many little edges on chrome. I wish I had tried it when I applied it. The tape had softened a bit so I was having issues getting it to cut cleanly.

The upshot is that it only left a small amount of sticky reside (granted, after about only 24 hours) that came right off when I made a pass around the car with a cotton pad with a little Goo Gone on it.

My advice if you want to give it a shot: go very slowly to avoid bubbles and use a fresh Exacto to trim everything you can. A cooler day is a good idea too. I'll probably be trying again in the future.

Ahhhh thanks Derk, I may just go ahead and order the beltline kit and be done with. On another note my JCW blackout grill should be here from OUTMOTORING today just in time for the weekend. WOOHOO!
