New Mini Owner (have questions)

Hey all...

Just picked up an 05 Mini S Convertible! Chili Red with White racing stripes. I can be any happier with the car! I have a couple of questions for experienced mini tuners, such as yourselves!

1. Where are the Parking/City lights?
2. What are the best bang for your buck mods to get some more performance?
3. If anyone from NJ is out there, where do you bring your mini for service?

Thanks in advance to everyone!

-Eric

AS for the mods, use the Search function - the consensus seems to be 1) smaller pulley, 2)tune, 3)exhaust, intake, etc... I've been happy with my pulley & tune, looking to get some bigger injectors and new tune soon.

I've been happy with Morristown Mini's service - they get good feedback from those who use them. but they are a dealership and charge dealership pricing.

Helix down in Philly is a respected shop for mods and other stuff.. http://www.helix13.com/mini/products

I did some biz with DMH in basking ridge as well. http://www.dmhmotorsports.net/

Welcome to the NJ motoring crew. Also check out nemini.org for local stuff.

Hi Eric,

Parking / City lights are located on the left-hand stalk. Just turn the end of the stalk towards the dash one click for parking lights (two clicks turns on headlights).

Congrats on your pick up!

Congrats on your car.
added performance - get a pulley installed @ Helix in Philly. They are having a tuning party with Jan from RMW in a few weeks. Check it out if you can and get some info from all the people there.
Talk with Erik at Helix and he'll give a great path for added performance.

Welcome and Congrats.

The supercharger pulley is hands down the biggest bang for your buck. You can't go wrong with that as your first mod.

Thanks for the replies

I am sold on the pulley! I can't wait to have some real fun with my little rocket.

I actually have to change the city light and I have located it but I am not able to get that little bulb out. Anyone do this? I need smaller hands to work with this car! I have never seen so much jammed in such a small space... gotta give it up to those german engineers.

Thanks in advance!

-Eric

Like others here, I'd recommend a reduction pulley for engine performance. Also a thicker rear swaybar to reduce the understeer in the handling department.

Not sure if what you mean by parking lights is just turning on your marker lights as mentioned earlier by turning the **** on the end of the signal stalk. MINIs also have side curb entry lights where if your car is parked and turned off, if you flick your signal stalk to the right turn position, your side marker lights as well as the signal light on the side will turn on, to light up the right side of the car. The same goes if you move your signal stalk to the left turn position, the left side of your car will light up.

Welcome to NAM, Fxsxux, if you ever find yourself in Philly, stop by the shop, and I'd be happy to look over your car as well as show you some of the cooler tuning bits.
