Will there be a 2011 JCW?

With the larger 1.6 engine coming for 2011 will there be a JCW model right away? Is this a minor refresh or will it be no longer an R56?

Everything I've heard just talked about the base and the S...they also quote the bump in hp figures for those and I've heard nothing on JCW figures.

My lease ends in November and I'm already stressin/excited over my next move. Finance the buyout on Pretty Hate Machine or grab a new JCW. And what's the deal with the coupe? Is that for sure coming out and when? I could dig that thing.

Thanks!

What I heard is that with Valvetronic added to the current JCW engine, power should rise to around 215 bhp (approximately 212 hp in the US). 2011s will also have some minor visual updates to the car exterior and interior.

The 2011 JCW should have hit US shores by the time your lease ends in November.

The Coupe is not yet confirmed for production (all eyes are on the R60 for now) but it will go into production. Don’t think MINI would want to pass on this one but I don’t expect the Coupe to come to the US before 2012 (late 2012 or even 2013 model year).

Thanks dertef!!

Looking forward to seeing what the updated JCW is all about. I'm amazed that from a .2 l boost in addition to slightly upgraded tech it only gains 5hp. I'm sure there's more potential from the engine to say the least.

The USDM Prince engines have always been 1.6L. There's no displacement bump coming... just Valvetronic (for the S/JCW) and low friction materials.

Either way, I agree with you. The turbo cars will likely gain more than the peak hp number indicates. They should make more power across the board with infinitely variable lift added. In fact, depending on how the original cam was spec'd, the cars could gain more horsepower in other places than it does at the peak.
