found a fix for the dash rattle

I was following a topic that some of you were talking about. A lot had trouble with a rattle under the dash. I too had this problem. It sounded like a marble bouncing around. It was driving me crazy. I took it in to a place and they couldn’t figure it out without taking the whole dash apart ($800). I decided not to do that, so I listened closely and I decided to try placing weather stripping between the windshield and the dash. And what do you know an $800 fix was done in the matter of 2 min. and $5 worth of weather stripping. __________________________________

I did the same thing a year or two ago. It's chronicled in a thread I think. Simple fixes that save hundreds are always fun.

Great idea!

How thick was the weather stripping and where did you buy it (ie, automotive or home improvement store)?

My car is progressively becoming more and more felt lined too. That's a spot I haven't tried to plug too much yet, I'll have to give it a shot.

It’s about 4.5mm thick, that is I think 3/16. I picked it up at an automotive shop, but I’m sure it can be found in a home improvement store. It’s called “Camper tape” made by Magic- Mounts.

The official fix for this at the dealer are strips of velcro...but with your solution you get some added insulation factor! Nicely done.
