Buying the same car?
Buying the same car?
I have a 06 MCS and I understand why people love this car but it's really annoying when your neighbors buy the same car. When I say same I mean the same color scheme and everything. Im not trying to sound mean but I think owning a Mini reflects ones own personally or taste. I know every Mini is not the same but for some who never liked the car and purchased it to prove something is a little childish. Sorry I'm just venting and I wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen to them?

Without knowing I had a new MINI in '05, my cousin purchased the exact same color schemed MCS as me, except for the interiors. However, I had ordered mine to spec and waited for it, he just went to the dealer on impulse and picked the one he liked most from those available. It happened within two months of each other and it was purely coincidence. We just saw each other one day and were like, WTF???

It honestly would not bother me in the slightest if a neighbor (or friend, or relative, whatever) bought the same car as mine. I would think it was kind of amusing. I would just grin and give them a
whenever I drove by. And obviously it just means they really like the car, so good for them. We like our cars to be appreciated, right?
Besides -- there are bound to be plenty of people whose favorite combo is BRG/B or PS/W (or whatever your particular combo happens to be) out there -- sometimes they will live in the next county and sometimes they will live next door. Your street is lucky enough to have more than one Mini-enthusiast on it. Whoo Mini!

hummmm... you could look at it this way: how often to you get to see your car in motion from a non-driver perspective? personally, i wish i would see my exact car out more often so I can see how good it looks on the road hehehe... oh and, just go get the coolest add-on, decal, accessory...whatever and double laugh as you ride by
Well, it happens to me .... but not exactly because they are not my neighbors.
I saw 3 more MCS (R56) pepper white and black roof in my apartment complex like just what I used to have one, but not any more because I got my black TD rims so there is no more same as mine

Well I think DS is one of the most common colors. Might want to try the Aesthetic Creations and checkout their Gray Scale Union Jack roof graphic, also checkout Rear View and Side View mirror capsnot sure of vendors.

There's always that one person or group who want to compete with others. I don't really understand what the big deal is. I can care less what the next person has. If they have a nice setup then that's cool and it's great to get some ideas from others to spark some creativity. I know these people didn't like the Mini before and for some strange reason they bought one. That's life!
back in 95 my neighbor had a red Miata ... his a couple of years old.
I'd always wanted a red Miata and when the time was right I bought one. There weren't too many options on a Miata back then, cloth interior was black with a black top - period, if you went leather you got brown .. period. You had alloy wheels of 1 type or your didn't (or they weren't OEM). I splurged and had the removable hard top but most of the time the cars looked like clones. Didn't bother us.
how come if another woman shows up at a party wearing the same dress they both think they should go home, while if a man shows up in the same suit they both think 'good taste'?

lol, i've lived at my current apt for 8 years now and still no EB/W, maybe you should've picked a more unique color
but don't sweat it, our cars are still unique. i mean there are more then 10 civics, 5 of which are the same gold color!

There are a lot of things I worry about, but some one having a Chili Red/White Top R56 like mine is not one of them. There is one in fact about 3 blocks away I've seen in a drive way never yet in motion, if I do I'll simply wave.
