I know there are other threads about this, but this is specific, & I haven't seen it mentioned...
The Clunker credit should be deducted from the SALES PRICE, not as a trade in. The difference is that you won't pay sales tax on $4500. Here in Kalifornia, that's about a $470 savings.
Make sure they write it up correctly.

Unless they find out there were fewer cars sold than presently thought, the Cash For Clunkers program will permanently end tomorrow night. However, last I heard, only $1.9 billion has been applied for so far, so maybe there will be a billion dollars left after all the submitted claims are paid and the program might be restarted in October. I sure hope so - my Nightfire Red MINI will be delivered in mid-October and my clunker is ready to go!
