The $1 MINI Laminated Cup Holder Liner Thread

Ok, I hate how the bottom of my '08 MCS cup holders don't have any liner in them, and the exposed screws can get pretty dirty if you spill.

Anyway, I made a graphic, had it laminated, cut it out, and then slipped it in perfectly into the cup holder bottom. Worked like a charm and I wanted to share some sample graphics in case anyone else wants to do this little $1 liner thing.

Here's what the final product looks like in my black/white union jack themed Mini:

So I just wanted to share in case anyone else wants this. It's so easy.

Just do the following:

1a. Find the image you want or make your own

1b. If you want to used the images below, click on image in new window, click again to view FULL SIZE and then right-click "Save Image as..." to your desktop, etc.

(I made it for the two cup holders and back ashtray as well)

2. Print out the graphic on photo quality inkjet paper at the max resolution/quality.

3. Go to a print shop and have them laminate this letter-sized sheet of paper. (I did it at Staples and it was $1)

4. Cut along the lines and insert.

5. That's it!

(These fit my 2008 Mini Cooper S like a glove. I'm not sure if there are other cup holder sizes for other editions)

Feel free to share your own graphics to this thread in case others would like to print/cut.

Sample Graphics to use if you'd like:

Black Union Jack

Union Jack

Mini Logo

Yellow Jack

Red Union Jack

Blue Union Jack 1

Blue Union Jack 2

BRG Union Jack

Blank - Add Your Own!

USA Flag

Cap'n America

Checkerboard Pattern

Classic Mini

Carbon Fiber Swirl

Feel free to make your own graphics. It would be cool to swap things out every so often for an easy change.

Enjoy!

Also you can buy laminating sheets at the local office store.

Any change you could email me the regular union jack graphic? I cannot open it here at work (where my color printer is at )

rruchti@amig.com

Thanks!

Thank you so much for posting the colored Union Jacks.
These were quick, easy & free (when you already have the supplies)
I ran home on lunch cut/installed the graphics & then took pictures...I was only 5 minutes late getting back to work (no worries) I even ate a bit before I left.

Awesome idea. Just printed some out, I'm going to use Packaging tape and tape them down to some cardboard to sturdy it up, I'll let you know how it goes.

H82WRK - I sent you the Union Jack.

OK so I tried them out in my 07 but they're gonna need some slight modification. The template has 2 for the front and 1 for the rear; the rear size fits the front perfectly but the front ones are too small for the `07 cup holders. I'm going to see if it fits the rear but I didn't have it laminated and got it stuck in the front one and all but destroyed it trying to get it back out so I don't want to try the rear till I get one laminated. I'll let you know tonight.

Yeah, these fit my '08 perfectly, so I'm not sure about other models.

If you need it adjusted a bit for another size, just let me know and I can tweak 'em and re-upload smaller/larger sizes for different models. I just need to know the exact diameter you need. Cheers.

I think that subtle humor based messages would be great for passengers to discover as they are motored about. These are written as if the car thought them up.

Photobucket wouldn't allow larger file sizes.

Nice, my front cupholders are filled with the coin holder and iPhone dock, but the rear cupholder definitely needs this.

OK so it does look like all 3 are the same size - they're the size of what you have as "rear" so you'll need to either print out 3 copies of the whole page and only use that one off all of them, or modify it. You can use the one I've attached or adjust one of the others by copying the bottom center one to the top 2 locations and print it on one sheet.

Edit: whoops I think the file attachment was too big. If you want it PM me and I'll e-mail it to you.

Very clever! Do you have a blank template that we could use to make our own?

So will these fit your vehicle?
If not, just let me know and I'll revise the file for you here.

Also, post what year/model so I can know.
