The $1 MINI Laminated Cup Holder Liner Thread
Well the template you made had 2 sizes; 1 size for the front 2 cup holders and 1 size for the rear. The size for the rear fit all 3 cup holders in my Mini. The 2 you designated for "front" were too small for any of my cup holders. I just printed the template 3 times and cut out the "back" of each page.
I have an `07 MCS
Neat idea. How about a bit of an improvement?
As anyone who has ever made a fake ID knows, if you laminate a piece of paper and then cut a shape out of it the edge of the paper is exposed and can absorb moisture. It will eventually delaminate with half the paper stuck to the front plastic sheet and half stuck to the back.
A much more durable result can be achieved by cutting out the shape of the paper first, then laminating so that the two plastic sheets are bonded together around the shape. Then cut to leave a small rim of clear around the encapsulated paper.

The single sheet of paper is so thin that the two sides of plastic practically fuse together with the paper, even after you cut it. Thin paper is much easier than a fake ID. Trust me, I've made those too. LOL
I've had mine in my Mini for over 6 months and they're going strong.
Today is "bring a dead thread back to life day" right??
I realize this is older but just stumbled across it and love the idea. Quick question though, on a 2007 MCS hatchback, anyone know the correct diameter for the front and rear cupholder inserts? The reason I ask is that I printed out a couple of these today and wanted to play around. The first thing I noticed was that the different patterns had different size circle on them... For example, the Black Jack and Mini Logo were smaller than the Union Jack which is smaller than the Classic Mini.
Oakland Mini - thank you for taking the time to create and post the images!

It's a year old, so it's not too surprising that the images have been moved or deleted.

The difference is that you're printing it on thin paper not a thicker photo ID and the the thinness of the regular paper actually causes the plastic to nearly fuse together since the paper is so thin. Trust me on this. I've had these cup holder liners in my car for a couple of years now and I'm still on the original pair. It also helps that the cup holder liners stay in place at the bottom of the cup holder and the edges are never really touched.
This simple mod works great.
Just save n' print.
Enjoy.
