New Photos of the 2012 MINI

Via MotoringFile:

http://www.motoringfile.com/2009/05/...esign-mock-up/

The front photo's surfaced before but the rear photos are new.

I have to say I like the rear. The tail-lamp treatment looks cool, and--personally--I like the extension of the white roof down into the C-pillar. Still haven't warmed up to the front though (still too "angry MINI" for me).

Overall, though, it's a lot more "BMW" and a lot less "MINI". I mean, view the door/fender area alone it could easily be mistaken for a BMW. Or the lower front fascia... BMW all over.

Maybe they are testing the waters to see what people think?

I hope they are just offering up a guess because that is hideous.

From the bonnet opening halfway up the headlights to the overstated body lines on the sides and the boot... awful.

I rather like the rear treatment, especially the clamshell hatch and incorporated lights. I think that the protruding tail lights are a neat touch!

The front is a totally different story. I do not like it at all. While the headlights are interesting looking, the front fascia looks too tall, and the fact that there would no longer be a clamshell bonnet is a big turnoff.

The overall shape is very nice. Quite sporty looking, but it looks like it has grown again! The wheelbase looks longer.

As for the roof treatement, the overall shape is pleasing, however, I am not a fan of the FJ Cruiser kink. I would prefer to see a smooth transition.
