What color goes with...

Not sure if this is the right section to post this in, and I was hoping to set this up as a poll, but can't seen to figure out how, but here it goes...

My '03 S is currently DS/W, and no offense to others who have this color combo, but I have never liked the pairing of the Dark Silver w/ the white. So I plan to get the roof and Mirrors re-painted (and maybe get some factory style bonet/boot stripes while I'm at it)

The idea I have is to do something that MINI could have done at the factory but never did, so I want to go with a factory MINI color, but not Black, White, DS, or PS.

My problem is.... well.... I'm a guy. and as a guy I'm not good at telling what colors work well with others.

I have narrowed it down to a few:
Solar Red
Velvet Red
Laser Blue
Lightning Blue
Hyper Blue
Indi Blue
BRG

Any feedback or sugestion is welcome, but please keep the focus on "this goes best w/ DS" not "this is my favorite color" So far Local freinds have been leaning on Laser Blue, But I was kinda hoping to go darker. Astro Black was also sugested But I'm afraid that will be too dark and will be mistaken for 'another DS/B'.

Here's some generic color photoshops to get the creative juices flowing:

color pics are always hard for me because they never look as good as they do in person. I always think of the white as being a canvas... I like the large custom graphics you can do anything to all three? but if going with the colors you have "BRG" however you do know that if you did it in Chili Red you would add 10 hp +
best of luck I am just glad it's all up to you and not me

I like this the best. But like Atomic S said, you could probably get a great roof graphic and some mirror caps/stripes and it would be much cheaper.

Probably the Red, or BRG even though its not pictured. But TBH, I think Black is the best.

Didn't see it on your list but I bet the Nightfire red would look great. I just think a primary color would not work with that silver. The tone of the nightfire matches and just might be the ticket.

Like some said above, vinyl would be much cheaper. Right now im debating if i want a black or white roof on my mini. I like the look of the black roof on pretty much any mini so ithought that I would be okay with it. but then i thought well down the road i know im going to want to put a roof graphic on because i like to design them for a hobby anyways. So what im probably gonna do is just go for the white and take it directly to my vinyl guy asap and get my roof graphic put on.

I know that doesnt really answer your question! sorry!

I agree, vinyl would probably be a less expensive route to go and if you get sick of it later, you aren't committed.

I also agree with the suggestion of NFR. Velvet Red would also be a good choice. It needs to stay in the darker side of the color spectrum, IMO. Anything would be dramatic on Dark Silver, but really I like the red combination best.

For the record, the pics weren't realy meant to be an accurate representation of the MINI color line, Just something a friend of mine did when we were first planning things.

As for Vynil vs Paint... I don't want any white to show, and to get the entire rear spoiler wrapped, top and bottom, plus get arround the curvature of the Mirror caps, The quotes I got from Vynil shops were actually more expensive than paint!

Sorry, yes NFR is an option as well. I've never actually seen the Velvet in person so I'm not sure how the two compare.

I'm happy to see the general consesus leanning to the darker end of the spectrum. That's where I was hoping to take it.

I like the yellow although I believe thats the Mini E color scheme.

BTW DS/W is one of my favorites, especially with red mirrors.

Technically since grey is such a neutral color all those "go" with it. Personally, I like the red.

I'm liking the red, but... you know, lime green would be pretty funky too, perhaps with some tasteful striping in places. A la MINI Airstream concept.

On a side note... your parking pass looks a lot like the one for my university.

I agree with the lime-ish green paired with the DS. I love the pairing of yellow or a green-tinged yellow with DS. The down side would be that it definately would not look factory.

My favorite look is the classic DS/B though.

Nightfire red would look pretty classy, or, you could get creative and do a metallic, matte dark orange... like this helmet:

Well, the desision was to go Nightfire red and try to vinyl it myself... but due to a mix-up (on my part) in the order the vinyl I got turned out spot on for Chilli Red.

I like the results though...

And now I don't have to listen to the debate about which color is faster... CR or DS. The answer: MINE!!
