Sounds like a certain MINI "pundit" publicly lost it.

Must have been quite the flame fest.

I can't say I blame him - reading any comments made on ANY forum start getting to ME, especially when reading someone's comment that is either a.) purposefully trolling, b.) illiterate, or c.) just downright assinine. He's got a point - he created something to share and I'd agree that the comments ARE like the graffiti, and really do detract from his creation. Hope he can figure a way to share without attracting the graffiti.

Thanks folks.
Here is the reason and here is the fix, for now.
This is not affecting WRR in anyway, just everything else.

As a writer, I understand DB's frustration with commenters and trolls, however, I disagree with the action he has taken regarding it because he is refusing to roll with the punches of the modern age.
Before you take me to task for that, let me explain myself. I am not here to be a naysayer or a troll. That is not my intent, or my purpose. I only hope that I can change your mind and make you think about the internet a little bit differently DB.
After reading your post on your blog about why you made your decision, I understood that you view the Internet the way many other writers do, as a print medium, but this is a mistaken view.
The Internet is not just a giant corkboard hanging up in the classroom where everyone gets to show off their stuff. It is an entirely new medium.
Nothing like this has ever existed for the whole of history and it has already changed the way we live. Just as the Wright Brothers never could have imagined airplanes being used to drop bombs on the Japanese during WWII... we cannot possibly imagine the innovations that are to come as a result of the birth of the Internet over the next twenty years.
Shutting down the commenting system on the blog will not contain the naysayers. It will only make the trolls angrier. It will give them more fuel for their fires. Rather than shut them down, take part in the conversation that is what the Internet is at its core. It really is about so much more than the content that you post to it. It is an opportunity for you to engage with others in discussion. It is a forum for ideas to be nurtured and stifling that ability only limits your own scope. It will not stop anyone else from saying what they want to say, no matter how mean or heartless. You can control the trolls by simply rising above their childish behavior with grace, and having something like that become part of your content is something you should be intensely proud of.
That is what the Internet is about.
That's all I have to say. Think on it and good luck.
