Just got delivery !
Hi Folks,
It is Horizon Blue that made me a Mini owner. I was wanting a Hot Chocolate Cooper S but Horizon Blue made me forget that S and I'm very happy I did so. It was a residual in stock 2010 Camden series they wanted to clear of the showroom floor to make room for 2011s.

I'll be posting more pictures in the Gallery.
Once I find a place to hand wash the car it is going to undergo claying and a full Zaino protective polish to bring out the gleam and glow of one hot color: Horizon Blue!

I'm respectfully requesting membership in this prestigious club. I just traded in my '10 PW/B MCS hardtop yesterday for my '11 HZB/B MCS hardtop. What a wonderful combination, MINI and Horizon Blue!

Correction - Bruiser tells me I got the pictures mixed up, his MCS is in the next post.
Enjoy!

Thanks, Camden Blues. Also, that image is my buddy, "CHILLS" as he is known here on NAM with his GP. Here is the link to "Bruiser". Also, you made a great choice in that HZB Camden Cooper hardtop.

Oh, so that's a Grand Prix - I thought it was a kitted out MCS. Nice with those wheels. I see you've got the same ones as my Camden - They look nice in person brightening up the car. Yesterday I did a 4 hour clay bar and Zaino Polish treatment because in the first outing I got caught in the new car behind 2 salt spreading trucks in a snow strorm and had to get every trace off the paintjob before sealing it in. I'll post some pictures as soon as the weather gets good enough to get some real daylight given we're into some very grey days here. Meanwhile you can see it with its factory prep job in my gallery.
I went with the Camden - giving up on an MCS - because I wasn't really car shopping, just taking Visiting the first MINI STORE in Paris and taking a glance at the Mini's in their factory showroom. Then... I got clobbered by the high impact of Horizon Blue and found it really looked good in the Camden version with a white roof and black and white interior. They said they'd discount it heavily, something seldom done around here, and as it was the very last Horizon Camden left in the country this forced the purchase.
Since I've driving the Hot Chocolate Cabriolet seen in my Gallery next to the Camden, it is a Justa Cooper with the Automatic tranny. I was surprised that the rear seats were perched so high and with a good bit less leg room. Other than that I really liked the 6-speed automatic. Still I enjoy shifting my Justa for fun and sportiness, but the auto is a definitely valid choice too.
Seeing how I liked the Special Series from 2010 they also had me try a demo Clubman in the Sparkling White SOHO Edition. I find that although it is less of a diminutive hard core nimble sports car than the hatchback coupe, it is really a good bit nicer and more original inside - making it every bit as much a Mini, something I had thought had been compromised to extend its chassis. I was amazed that I actually LOVED the balanced handling and road feel provided by the longer wheelbase. It seemed just perfect and very successfully engineered. While slightly less 'instant' in feel than the hatch it was actually more instinctive to turn and maneuver with making it a very valid choice.
The Clubman Soho happened to also be a DIESEL car which surprised me with its seemingly endless torque after driving my Justa as well as the Auto Justa convertible just...a before. If you like torque that's the way to go, with what I expect will be the absolute killer car, a Clubman SD or MCSD due out this March in Europe and a few other other markets. It will have more torque than the JCW at far lower rpm so we'll be looking at one wild ride.
However, I still am happy to have chosen my Justa, because it feels lighter and more of a sports car because you have to work at getting it going and use your mind to time your trajectories with just the appropriate mustering up of torque, which does come eventually even if you need to wind the engine up high. I had to yesterday to get out of crazy rush hour traffic lunging a the Camden, and it must have briefly wound up above 5000 rpm to get me out of a tight spot, during early break-in. Here the streets are filled with Minis in all shades and flavors, but somehow the Horizon Blue keeps getting stares and compliments. This color really suits both the car's angular shape, softening it a bit, while perfectly matching its happy and fun loving Mini personality!
Just been told my Hzb MINI Cooper is be delivered Monday 20th weather permitting (snow forecast) very excited as 7 years in the planning...will post pics on delivery... Please add me

Camden Blues, you don't have to justify getting a Cooper over a Cooper S. If I lived in a relatively flat area and was only motoring in a flat area, especially at lower altitudes, Cooper performance level will do the job. After motoring on my MINI runs like MINIs in the Mountains and MINI Takes the States in my Cooper hardtop and Cooper Clubman, I found them really struggling. I had to go forced induction so I moved over to a '10 Cooper S hardtop and now to my current '11 Cooper S hardtop. Remember, "Cooper" is a performance level MINI even though it is considered and marketed as the base performance level MINI here in the States.
Twen, your memory of the wait will soon disappear after delivery. I only waited two months for my Clubman but the delivery insantly killed the bad memories.
