proud HzB/W owner

I got my HzB justacooper back in August (we'll say the 14th because I know it was a friday) and I love it. This is my first mini and as soon as I saw the HzB/Black combo I knew I would own a HzB. Turned out the HzB/B I saw was already sold, so I gladly went with the HzB/W instead. Not sure what being in this [wonderful] group would do for me, but sign me up anyway..!

I attached the [terrible] picture I took of my car first weekend I had it, but since then I've done slight modifications... Honeycomb Grill, JCW Side Scuttles, black tinted side "blinkers", 20% tints - Thats it. Still have the 15" stock wheels but hopefully soon to be the black 17" Kyowa 210's..

Have a question for all these Horizon Blue owners out there... Like I said I love the HzB/B combo and still want to accentuate (sp?) the black on my HzB/W (hence the new grill, tints, side scuttles - all black). I am looking adding stripes (whether its classic, viper, shelby, I cant decide) but do you think it would be strange to see a white topped mini with black stripes - if I were to go classic I would def have the white pinstripe border around the black stripe but I'm still leaning toward the viper style..

Let me know what you guys think, or if you need more information so I can be on the list..!

Yeah thanks I love it, I took the route of buying one in the dealership instead of special ordering it since I did the cash for clunkers thing - I do not miss the caddy one bit.

The question remains though.. Would it be odd to see a white-topped mini with black stripes, regardless of the style of stripe?

I don't think so. I love my white stripes, but black seems to be more popular. Some of the vendors, I'm not sure which ones, have curved stripes that I wish that I had gotten instead so take your time before you decide. There are tons of options!

would you paint your roof?

I originally wanted a HzB/B JCW but ended up opting for a HzB/HzB JCW that was in route to the dealer pretty much equipped the way I wanted. I absolutely love it, but have seen a few HzB/B floating around our area and get the twinge for a black roof.

I am putting on the JCW Aero Kit w/ painted arches soon and while it's in the shop, am contemplating having them paint my roof black.

Am I crazy? Should I just leave it alone?

A very personal choice type of question that only you can answer. The black on white will stand out much more than black on the horizon blue. Way back in July 2009 of this thread, someone suggested I pursue a grey-ish stripe similar to the wheel colors. They even did a mock-up with a photo I posted. Looked sweet and if I stripe Skylar I will definitely use the color they took the time to help me with.

Sounds like you are having fun with the mods, which is the most important part. Keep going!

Cheers.

Hope to see you in the DC area sometime. A photo opportunity would be fun! I work in Alexandria.

Good to see folks happy with the color. My 2006 MCS Dark Silver Metallic is off lease July 31st and the Horizon Blue looked unimpressive on the website.

I love it. I chose it purely based on the pictures that SaltnPepper had posted and have fallen in love with it. It's beautiful no matter how dirty it gets, which is a huge plus this time of year.

I got you down as #47. You can go to the MINI site and build a white top car then go to the motoring accessories tab(the 6th one) and put black stripes or black viper stripes and get an idea what it will look like. (see the example below) I got my boot stripes from here.https://www.rockymountaingraphics.co...&search=&page=

I completely forgot about that little tool, after playing with it about 30 times before i ended up buying my cooper.. I wish they gave you a 360 degree view or atleast a few options other than the angled view for front and back. On top of that, the horizon blue they show is soo much darker than it actually is. Even with that I think I decided I'm going to get white viper stripes, but may eventually get black roof stripes to kinda go with it.. The white bonnet/boot stripes definitely look better than the black (with the white roof, dont be offended black striped mini's) but i'm hooked on the idea of black rims so I need to pull in black as much as possible..

Still haven't decided what to do with the headlight trim. Chrome, Blackout, or Body color. Tail lights are blacked out.

Decided. Went Black..........
I'm done with the outside for now. As soon as the weather warms, I have an NM Exhaust system waiting to be put on.
Just started installing new speakers today.

I like the way its looking fcal.. I would go blackout for the headlight trim, to match the rest of your car, especially since the taillights are done already

Horizon?

I've not seen the horizon blue in person. Can someone give me a really great description of the color. I do believe it's the color I'll love, but I either need to see it before I order it or have a good idea what it looks like.
Thanks!

There are lots of pictures in this thread, but I would describe it as.....

medium blue with a little bit of grey, kinda like blue jeans color, not too dark, not too light

I'm still between the pepper white and the horizon blue. I wish I could them both side by side in real life!

Your dealership should have both colors. I like the Pepper White too, but after dealing with trying to find my mother's Silver Civic in parking lots, I decided I wanted a less popular color for my car. That is the advantage of Horizon Blue over Pepper White, the Blue colors seem to have a short lifespan with the Mini line-up.

I'm not sure if you're on Facebook or not, but I commonly refer to Horizon Blue as the Facebook blue. It is on the header of the Facebook webpage. I'm not certain others would agree with me, but it is the only blue I see regularly that reminds me of my color. All others seems to be too dark/black, too green/teal, or just too bright.
