Rear fog lamps

When ordering fog lamps, does it come with one or two? And would it be better to buy an after market product and install myself?

One for the Cooper, 2 for the Cooper-S.

Better in what way? Its certainly easier to get the factory version. I can't imagine the hassle of doing yourself is worth the $100 you'd save.

I have heard that it is pretty difficult to do. I would buy from the factory.

The 09 MCCS factory fog lamp option is just one lamp. It is basically part of the rear break light assembly on the driver side. The passenger side assembly has the clear back-up light instead. The two horizontal markers under the tail lights are just refelctive (for show). It is a euro thing. Not sure about the MCS.

like was stated... clubman has one reverse light below one of the tails and the other side has a rear fog (red..kinda strange)

the MCS has 2 in the bumper... I love em.. never use them but i like how they finish it off.. and it keeps the switch banks inside full!

If you are ordering a new MINI, include the rear fog. It can't be added later for less money.

In fact I was told by the MINI dealer that they could put in a fake switch to fill the slot where the rear fog light would be but the price was $600.00. For a fake switch?? Order the rear fogs from the factory.

+1. Here in the DC area everone loves to tailgate. The rearfogs do a great job warning off enemy ships. I use them all the time for that purpose.

Needless to say that ain't gonna happen.

It really does look goofy without the toggle.

Get the factory fogs.

When in doubt, upgrade. Its always best to have as many options as possible, even if I don't know what 1/2 of them do

I much prefer to hit the breaks at full speed, that's far more effective and rather fun too.

Hey Mick, there are a couple of things to consider when deciding this. I bought off the lot and my car did not come with rear fog lights. I HATED those black filler pieces so opted for the aftermarket light kit which included lights, bulbs and wiring and instead of being used as "rear fog lights only" they are a second set of tail/brake lights. Yes there is still a blank on my toggle switches, that I can live with. Full kit from Minspeed is $75.00 and takes about an hour to install. They have kits for both the base cooper and the S.
Hope this helps in your decision!

Seems like every Jag I see at night is driving with their rear fogs on. It's freakin' annoying.
