Mouse ate thru wire - repair cost? $8000!!!
If it's just one wire, I agree, BS. If it's more widespread damage then I for one remember Edge's thread and his car was in the shop for what, over a year?...most of which was replacing the entire wiring harness in the car.
But if it's just one or two wires, then I agree, I'd be in the garage with a solderer and a flashlight working it out myself.

Where is the proof that a mouse ate it? Any turds laying around? Maybe a bad install caused it to rub through and sever a wire. If so Mini is responsible. I'd fight like hell to make them pay for it. Or I'd have it fixed locally. Or I'd live without a rear wiper.
Yes, there were mousey droppings around, and the strapping and wires looked "chewed." I've now noticed the right-side defroster wires don't work either
.
Adjuster working with me, sort of.

If your MINI is out of warranty, I would do what one of the posters already said - fix it yourself. You can buy a lot of manuals for a $1000!!....

Sorry re-read, it's a new MINI, get it fixed right! Invest in some cats, that the eco way! Used to see mice and rats all the time, now I have five cats and no rodent problem. Let them visit your garage and the problem is solved. I wonder if you can spray those wiring harnesses with something that repulses rodents?

Everybody knows that Mickey loves MINI!
I would check the wiring over thoroughly. If the damage is widespread, you will be better off replacing the entire harness. Even if a wire isn't completely severed, the bare spot could eventually cause a short.

It's not just MINI's wiring that mice and rats like. It's any wiring with copper inside. Had a rat problem in an outside storage a few years ago, and the dang rats ate all the Christmas lights wiring plus destroyed just about everything in that shed. Nasty, horrible, diseased riddened creatures. Poison works.
Oh man... If the MINI dealer told me $8k to fix a wire, I would seriously fall on the floor laughing right there at their feet. Seriously, I'm holding back laughter right now. Tell them they've got a deal if that includes a new engine, a set of those matte black JCW wheels (R105 ?), and a sack full of gold.
When I worked in Sandy Eggo for the Jaguar dealership, we had more than one car totaled due to wiring being chewed thru by rodents, in those cases the owner unknowingly tried to start the car and the wiring shorted and burned thruout the harness........one of the cars towed in had apparently seen this problem before, it had bait glued to the fenderwells inside the engine compartment - didn't help tho........
I'd be cautious about driving the car in this condition.
