2009 JCW MCS or 2009 Chevy Corvette?
MINIUSA spent in excess of $30k on Labor repairing my $24.5k MINI under warranty, that doesn't include the seats, tranmission, gear box, speedometer, etc, etc, etc. Practical reliable yeah right!
Do your research!
(Oh and a clubman is just as much a station wagon)
Style is an individual thing, not everyone likes a MINI that stands out so much either, it's a matter of personal taste, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, I wont dispute it.
You're right, cause the Mazda 5 is a minivan, now the MX-5 is a well handling inexpensive car, that's cheap to run, easy to track fun to drive, it's well within competition, and cheaper!
Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky, same class same competition level, same reasons as the MX-5, and there's many posts on this board that came fromthe MX-5 and many that where on this board that left for the sky or solstice, so the MINI is in direct competition with these cars. Esp for those who use the MINI as a weekend/summer/track car. Ford GT, different class, it's well within the price range, and there's plenty here who are interested in horsepower, there's a great deal who spend loads of money on drag racing and dynos, it's again a competitive choice.
Here's an already dealer optioned M3 for $65k http://www.winslowbmw.com/New-Invent...oryId=24280562 With AWD 3 series availble for 42k; Car and Driver managedtoget onefor under 60k in their track shootout this year, comparing different cars within the same price bracket, unfortunately MINI didn't even earn a spot on the list.
Again your opinion but I haven't found facts to back up it being competitive against similarly priced vehicles, so my opinion remains unchanged.

, I said Mazdaspeed 3, they only come in a wagon. And the Mazda 3? I sure the MCS would smoke it. #3: Lets take a poll and see who likes the looks of the Volvo, bet you 90% would like the Mini easy. #4: Excuse me, when I said Mazda 5 I meant the MX-5. Sorry but they are not comparable vehicals. Where do my kids sit? Same with the Solstice and Sky. But at least the MX-5 has somewhat of a trunk, kinda. The other two, what a freakin joke, might be able to fit a shoe box in them. #5: Like I said here in my area you cannot find a 135i for under $38k. you might find a M3 for $65k but thats WAYYY past $35k? #6: Well thats your opininon. Between performance, gas mileage, practicality and looks it's hard to beat the Mini. That Cobalt is a real beauty
Comparing a base Corvette to a JCW that's fully optioned is questionable.
A base JCW is $15k less than a base Corvette. You can dance around the numbers, but that's a huge difference. The Corvette is 50% more expensive than the MINI, or the MINI is a third less than the Corvette, depending upon your point of view. Yes, there are JCW's at the dealer for $35k, $40k, probably even $50k, but there are also Corvettes for $50K, $60k, $70k, and higher.

It depends if you want to buy a car from a potentially bankrupt company. GM is not a particularly heathly company right not. I am sure you could pick up something cheap if you just bargain, but good luck with your warranty problems.
- I looked at the 135i and just felt like a was looking at something I would settle on.
- I have spent some track time in an elise and I liked it, but I would not want to drive that on a daily basis.
Good luck with your choice!
Hmm, seems like an apple versus orange debate...
if my second MCS is as problematic as my first I'm giving up and buying a Caddy. CTS-V, that is. That is if GM is still around to produce them...
