MINI the Book

When I picked up my MAGILLA, my MA presented me a copy of "MINI the BOOK" (ref: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/389...r_mts_prod_img )because, as he put it, I was the most informed and enthusiastic buyer he has seen. I have read the entire book and highly recommend it for all MINI owners and potential buyers.
The first chapters seem a bit out of place, as they cover modern design and 1960's style. It is not until one gets well into the book that the MINI gets thoroughly documented. Those early chapters helped to build an understanding of some of the MINI design concepts.

Back in March 2007, "msh441" posted information about this book and the thread has been subsequently closed. I have opened this thread to re-introduce the subject. I have no affiliation with Amazon.com or the publishers of the book.

I just got this book yesterday, a friend bought me a few goodies including the book for my birthday (today!). I only had a chance to browse through it but it looks very informative with lots of info. Nice to have some background info on the car I can read up on, especially while the wife is watching "Dancing with the Stars"

Happy Birthday! I need to get that book. I had always searched our Barnes and Nobles and could never find a mini book. It looks like a good coffee table book.

Thanks! FYI, my friend bought the book at Moss Mini.

I also recommend this book about the history of the Mini/MINI.

I wish Amazon let you "look inside" as the reviews of Mini: The Book seem to say it's more about what influenced the design of the Mini, and I'd be more interested in the history.
If it's a fluffy coffee table book, are there at least some nice big photos of new Minis?

I agree with you that a preview might generate more sales for the book.
Also, there are lots of pictures. Mini Classics, MINI Coopers, customizations by celebrities, design sketches and - the ever popular - more.

I received it as a gift about a year ago, after reading it I usually keep it in the boot for display/reference at MINI and car meets.

I ordered the book from Amazon the other day. It looks really good.

I looked at several Barnes and Nobles too, but I have not found any MINI books there. They do have a good selection on their website though.

Well, I read this book already. It was a very good read, and I highly recommend it to any MINI owner. (I'm not an owner yet, but I will be in a couple of more weeks!)
