Honda Civic < MINI

Here it goes, I'm leaving school and theirs this "car" group full of Civic hatchbacks that call themselves "ETERNAL" As I drive by them and I'm in traffic with the windows down they tell me "hey my boy in this civic wants to run" and I respond "no I don't want to" he gets pissed well whatever to make it shorter he follows me to the first light by school and pulls up right next to me and my V1 goes of signaling that thiers a cop ahead he starts revving his 92 civic with a fart can exhaust that gives him 200 hp from a 90 hp motor and I rev back and I hold the rev as I'm going to dump the clutch it turns green and he's off with no wheelspin just noise and BOOM the cop hauls *** around the corner and gets him I'm there laughing my *** off and his friend at the next light goes why didn't you race? and I say
1. I don't need to race becuase I know my car is going to blow his doors off
2. If he wants to race me he can go to the airfield on sunday
3. my radar went off
4.were in a school zone right by an elementary
Just as long as I know what my mini cooper is capable of is good for me some lame asses with civics can just critisize my car and say thier cars are better but i know thru their dumb comments that my car has one thing better than thiers besides looks and performance its engineering and genuis... not some souped up econobox with an exhaust pipe the size of a man hole cover is ever going to be better than a mini

Sadly, there is a group just like this at my college. It is in a pretty rich area where all the kids are spoon fed. I'd say their is about 10-15 06-09 Si's and they think that their fart cans are the greatest thing going. I don't have my MINI yet, but I can only see the taunts coming now from them. But, being a good motorist, you should just laugh it off and realize that you don't have a mini because you have the biggest ego in the world. You have a mini because you LOVE mini's.

Why do they put that noise on their cars? Is it to "sound" fast?.. because Fast cars don't sound like that at all.. and those exhaust pipes sound more like old boats.

Slightly off topic but the new Civic Si is actually quite a good car. A friend of mine is a big Honda guy and told me to give it a try and at least test drive it, so i did and was very impressed. Sure the older Civics attract the typical "ricer" crowd, but the new Civic Si's are very good little cars, and will surprise you how well they perform.

My friend has a 08 Civic Si. My 6 Ft. frame couldn't fit the seats very well. After driving my MINI, the Civic's suspensions felt sluggish. And the torque in no where to be found. Just my opinions.

I think everyone goes through the stage where noise = horsepower. Oh if it were only that easy.

SPUNKY I applaud you for not taking the bait.

The torque is there, but it's really up there in RPMs. Like Jeremy Clarkson said, 'It revs so fast that it creates its own gravity field."

Possibly the noise = horsepower stage is gender specific.

True That! I'm glad I got it out of my system on my Honda Accord. I mutilated a perfectly good car. That's why my Mini is staying stock in the muffler department

If that knucklehead had been caught in Ontario racing in a school zone, he would have been jailed, had his car impounded and then crushed, and been fined up to $10,000.

Sounds like an appropriate punishment to me. There race tracks for having tests of speed.

I don't know if I have much respect for Civics, and I used to be a Honda guy. I owned a VTEC Prelude that actually was a really fun car; 190hp stock from an inline-four was damn good in 1995. Just my 2cents.

I always thought those little Honda's with the huge exhaust sounded like sewing machines on steroids. Has me in stitches whenever I hear one (Pun intended)

For some reason, that story reminded me of a scene in the movie Apocalypto. The main character is running away from some armed guys. He catches the attention of a Jaguar, who chases him. Main bad guy sees good guy run by, and falls in behind him to try to catch him. Unfortunately, main bad guy is now first in line for the Jaguar, who takes him down!

Must've felt good, but this brings to mind whether there might be some form of retaliation afterwards? I know kids in school can sometimes be jealous and key or ding your car for no other reason than envy. (Speaking from experience) Are these the types of guys who would keep a grudge against you for getting the ticket eventhough they deserved it?

Kudos to the OP for not taking the bait, by the way!

(Bigdaddy isn't that a 240sx in that photo being crushed by the OPP-hired frontloader? Damn that's not right... I do miss mine...)

+1

Areas that I go to a lot i.e. where I work, and where I go to school, I wouldn't wanna **** off a lot of people. Don't want popped tires and keyed panels.

Nicely done not taking the bait.

You already won when you had the Mini and he, well, didn't.
