Anyone notice this before...

On the back side of my original MINI floor mats is a date stamped into the mat.

Mine says: G 12/02/04

Wonder if all original mats are date stamped with the production year of the MINI.

Funny things you find while detailing your MINI.

The date is probably for the mats themselves. All OEM parts should have a date coding so defects can be traced. Usually it's a Julian code along with a production number such as a machine or operator number so it's usually not so obvious. G could be a machine, shift, or area in a production plant followed by it's manufacture date.
