NEW Color?

I was out in our Mini over the weekend & saw a new Mini convertible. I did a double take because of the color. I can best describe it as a light heather plum with a black rag top. Was really sharp. Has anyone else seen this color?

Are you sure it was a new convertible? There are no purples in the current lineup, and only two blues (Laser Blue & Lightning Blue), neither of which is close to a plum/heather colour.

Could it have been Cool Blue? It's a pearlescent colour, and I've noticed that under the right light, mine often takes on a lavender/periwinkle look.

Here's a picture of Cool Blue MINI (not mine), although this isn't the "purplest" that mine's ever looked:

and another:

I originally thought of Black-Eyed Purple as well, but I think the OP would have just said "purple", rather than "light heather plum" if the MINI he saw was a BEP one. Certainly nothing "light" about BEP!

Plus, I took him at his word that it was a new MINI, and BEP was discontinued during the 2005 year, so I ruled it out.

I'm really curious to find out what colour it was that he saw - not too many MINI offerings over the years that could be mistaken for light plum/heather.

But I would have gotten BEP in a heartbeat if it had still been available when I ordered my 2006. And speaking of rare convertibles, I also would have loved a Solid Gold convertible, but it was also discontinued by 2006, plus I believe it was a Cooper-only colour and not available on the 'S'.

New color?

No, it was not Cool Blue. It was more of a dirty dark heather pinkish blue color. Sounds awful but I liked it. I saw it at high noon, I am not color blind and like I said, I did a double take when I saw the color. It did look like a brand new mini to me, was really shiney. actually, if you look at the smiley faces to the right (when you post a message) it is close to the color, maybe just a bit more pinkish. Might have been a custom repaint, then. I can't think of any colour that MINI's used since 2005 that could be described that way.

And the "eek2" smiley ( ) looks *exactly* like Cool Blue to me, and there is some pink in the Cool Blue pearl, but if you're positive it wasn't CB, I'm at a loss.

Yep the SG was a Cooper-only color.I was fortunate enough to live a few blocks away from three Zipcar Cooper cabrios(CB,SG & HO) and put quite a few miles on those babies until they retired them.

Lucky You! I've only ever seen *one* Solid Gold convertible in person. I think there was only a very short period of time between the introduction of the convertible and the discontinuation of SG.
