Parking in NYC can be tight sometimes...
This is true. I spend an average of 600 dollars a year repainting the bumper from these events. By the way, I am one of the privilege ones in the city. I have a parking space and live in an area where there's even plenty of parking space in the street at night.

I was out with a buddy in Boston one night a few years ago, and he actually parked his Integra's front bumper UNDER the bumper of a large pickup truck.
I think that if I lived in the city I'd just have to drive a beater all the time, my poor heart couldn't take the stress.

That is WAY too close for comfort.
I wonder how many times the Grand Cherokee banged into the back bumper of the MC before he finally parked.Looks like the back bumper is a little pushed down in that pic too.

So that's why the Hubby won't take me to visit NYC.
He knows I'd end up in jail
for what I'd do
to the jerk that decided that parking that close
to my beloved Mini was okay.
I'm sure I would not
fair well living in the big city. My present area is growing by leaps and bounds and has been for years.
If it gets like NYC, I'm outta here like there's no tomorrow.

Got my first bumper ding while visiting the City. Parked on Riverside Dr. and was feeling really good about the space I got, since it was the first one past a crosswalk, with generous space in front. When I came back a day later, I was 2nd car from the crosswalk; some SOB had pushed me forward about 6 feet and used the resulting space behind me. At least I wasn't pushed into the next car.
As a Westsider, there's nothing wrong w/ this space - plenty of room LOL!!!!
Anyway, I have an 06, and just had a conversation w/ my father about expense of repainting bumpers & ding repairs - we agreed it just ain't worth the price as as soon as the repair was done, a bigger injury would result. I call them battle scars and look at them as adding character. It's also life in NYC. I have lots of pride in my car and work hard at keeping it as nice as I can, with bumper guards (front & back), but these little flaws just aren't worth the stress.

I love NY pizza. When I returned to the west coast after college, NY pizza was something I truly missed.
In the area I work in Brooklyn, people regularly drive around with those bumper guards just hanging out the back. Looks 'tarded.
It's certainly not clear from this image who the guilty party is. We're all assuming that it's not the MINI, I wonder why?
In NYC, if you worry too much about your car, you will go crazy! I used to really loose it but then I just realized is just a damn nice little car. When I started noticing around me Maybachs and Bentley's parked in the street I relaxed a bit more. In the end, like I previously said, I have to spend about 600-800 dollars to keep the car in mint condition yearly plus the 550 monthly for my parking garage. You do the math. NYC is not cheap, but I wouldn't trade my life in this city for any other place. Except Barcelona, Spain!!
