Pretty Psyched-getting used MCSa this weekend
So, after about six weeks of reading this forum multiple times a day, many helpful PMs, and search agents on every possible source, I think that I found my Mini:
check out what I found
I ended up getting it for $19k even. Some other points:
In any case, I realize that some people have gotten some absolutely crazy inside deals, but I think that I did pretty ok for a 30k miles car.
I already order the Kuda mount and a Garmin Nuvi 660, as it has the bluetooth for handsfree calling (anyone that has a 660, I would love your feedback).
One question for y'all - do they all have an airconditioned/cooling glovebox?

- cold weather
- sport package
- premium
- rear fogs
- chrono package (which some people don't like, but I think is pretty cool)
- rear spoiler (is this worth having, ro just for looks_
- auto transmission (trust me, I would rather get a stick; don't think that I'm some silly american that can't drive a manual - my left leg is messed up, and a clutch would be brutal for it.
- backup sensors (still don't know why this is needed on such a little car)...
- tire are apparently new front and 90% rear

Very nice find
You will love the chrono package and it moves the speedo next to the tach on the steering column.
It is a big shame that MINI no longer offers that in the second generation R56.

seems like people either love or hate the steering chrono - I think that it looks pretty cool.
It also comes with steel wheels (no tires) for winter tires, which I think is pretty cool.
Other than the XM (which I really want), and the Nav / Kuda - which I already ordered, and other non performance related mods suggested?

Also here is the website for MotoringFile.com where you can download the owner's manual PDF of the 2005 MCS which is located halfway down the page under PDF Manuals. You can turn on or off the DRL's through the on board computer settings.

I hope that helps.
thanks so much for the link - it looks like on page 59 that the dealer has to enable the DRLs?
Is there any way to tell if this car has leather or leatherette? The car was traded in by a long time customer to a saab dealer and he just doesn't know...

Here is what it says on page 59 for the 2005 MCS PDF:
Daytime driving lamps*
If convenient, the light switch can be left in
position 0 or 1.
The low beams switch on automatically in
ignition key position 2 or higher.
The exterior lamps go out when the ignition
is switched off and the light switch is
set to position 0. In position 1, the parking
lamps are automatically switched on.
The dynamic headlamp range control
for xenon lamps only operates
with the light switch in position 1 or 2.

According to the car link if you click Additional Features it lists:
Vinyl Seat Upholstery With Additional Vinyl, Sports Driver And Passenger Seat With Height Adjustment, Two Symmetrical Bench Front Facing Rear Seats With Zero Adjustments, Leather Covered Steering Wheel With Tilt Adjustment,
I hope that helps answer your additional questions.
I believe the fog lights & the xenon lights would have come with either the Sport or Premium packages. That car has both so I'd bet you'll have both fogs & xenons.
Now that I've looked at the pictures. Yes, both fogs & xenons. To me it looks like it has leather seats. That is a nice looking MINI. Enjoy the ride home.

I test drove that car. Not a car just like it, but THAT car. You'll love it. It's like a little rocket. I test drove a bunch of MINIs when I was looking so my powers of recollection aren't great, but I am almost certain that car had leather seats. And, the seats were in great shape, that I specifically recall. Also, I am certain it has fog lights and Xenon lights. Enjoy!
